I am sorry to hear you have had problems using Home Strip but I can assure you that Home Strip will remove all types of varnish and oil and water based paints.
Did you follow the instructions by doing a small test area first? Also the technical helpline telephone number on the label- did you call us?
The only varnish that can create problems is 1920's varnish which does soften and strip but sometimes needs an overnight process to break it down- 1920's varnish was the first early type of polyeurthane, and over the years mainly on dining table tops the sun has baked the finish on making it even harder to remove.
We do appreciate feedback on all of our products and would like to see a more detailed explanation of what the actual issues were, but a phone call to our technical helpline might have been the answer.
If you would like to call us one of our technical staff would be more than happy to help.
