“Water based satinwood....powder paint at school was...”

I am just repainting some shelves which were painted with oil based satinwood. The original finish with two coats was perfect with deep colour and no brushmarks.....almost looked like a laminated surface. Now i am using water based satinwood as i could not find the good stuff. First of all it is almost transparent with 4 coats not covering a dark mark. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get a smooth finish as the brushmarks do not run out. It says quick drying but after 24 hours in a heated rooM when i tried to give it a light rub down it just pilled up and rolled off like bits of pva. WELL DONE DULUX...YOU HAVE TAKEN ONE OF THE BEST PAINT PRODUCTS I HAVE USED AND TURNED IT INTO ONE OF THE WORST PAINTING PRODUCTS SINCE LIMEWASH.
