Mountain resort, winter (ski) and summer. If you like laid back places this one is for you too since the big masses do not come here. Nevertheless it is still cosmopolitan probably due to the presence of internatonal private schools. In winter, this means you almost never wait to take a gondola or chairlift (maybe 2 minutes at most if it gets bad). In summer too, breathing fresh air is refreshing and revitalising while hiking, mountain biking, climbing or doing any other of the usual summer activities in a mountain resort. From the top of the mountain, you get a breath taking view on lake of Geneva (there is even a 360 ° revolving restaurant within 60 minutes while you enjoy your meal). If you came for a week, a day trip to a city at the lake's shoreline is what I recommend (Montreux is only at 40 minutes by car or train, 4 stops in Leysin, Geneva airport is at a bit more than an hour). Switzerland has never been cheapie, but then again, cheap may often lack quality, and that is what I like most about this country, I could been braught here blindfolded without knowing where, as soon as I would be allowed to experience the friendliness of people, see the cleanliness, accuracy of services (absence of corruption), everyday safety feeling in the streets, built quality of every detail, no doubt, it must be Switzerland. Love it and for me, Leysin is a hidden gem !
