We have just returned (May 2014) FROM SKALA,KEFALONIA,travelling with a package from Thomas Cook.
All was super, just be aware if you stay in the Zephyros Hotel, it is up a very steep and long road to town,so need a car hire locally (all excellent and reasonable) or taxi back(5E) from the many excellent restaurants there, unless you are extremely fit!!!Lots of good shops and supermarkets, but a quiet, small town,so very little night life, mostly bars and people watching!
Hotel clean, friendly, bar with snacks open till late, with a lovely pool, very quiet too.
Beach is beautiful, and if you wish for a trip out,use locals as Thomas Cook charges are too high!!
