I was recently referred to a ENT specialist for a consultation re a throat problem and decided to "go private", on the basis that I could reclaim 50% of his fee from Simplyhealth. During the consultation, the Specialist looked down my throat with a piece of equipment called a Nasal Pharyngoscope. Unbeknown to me an extra fee of £90 would be payable for the use of this equipment ( I could hardly tell the man not to use it!) i paid my dental plan for 9 months then i needed some dental work but i only recived 10% of my dental costs when i queried this i was told to go to the insurance obudsman Simply hesth is a ripp off! (read more)

There is an option on our policies to show if customers have requested not to be contacted about alternative products and services that may be of interest. As this was not showing on your records, we did not know not to contact you, therefore causing you distress by telephoning you, for which we are truly sorry.
Our Sales team contact customers up to a maximum of four times, unless specifically requested not to do so. Upon listening to your recorded calls, there was a genuine misunderstanding and we did not realise that you wanted our calls to stop. Following your feedback we have amended your policy to ensure you do not receive calls from us about alternative products and services. We value your custom and hope you stay with Simplyhealth. I couldn't agree more with twisteddyke. SH are an absolute rip off agent! DO NOT, I stress, DO NOT ever go to SH for any insurance related matters. They are very quick to take the money and answer the calls in no time when you contact the sales team but when you want to claim, you'll be on hold till your illness/injury is healed!

My experiences mirror those of a previous contributor. I obtained an authorisation number from Simply Health for a procedure and this was subsequently withdrawn without my knowledge, again owing to a "clerical error". Now in my opinion, if these authorisations can be withdrawn at any time, they are worthless, and the system of trust between patient,health care provider and private health supplier breaks down completely. Simply Health are awful and I will be taking formal action against them they have cause me an unnecessary amount stress. From one person to another they do not what they are doing I have experienced in consistent information regarding polices, being berated by one member of staff with inconsistent information. And the day before an operation they told the hospital they would not pay for the operation even though there was already an authorisation code, which turned out to be a clerical error... (read more)

I have been with Simplyhealth for nearly 1 year now and I have found their Cash Plan to be excellent. They have different levels of cover but I decided to take cover level 2 which offers decent covedr for optical and dental costs. My cover also provides some hospital stay cover where you can claim money for each night you are in hospital. Simplyhealth have very clear claim forms and have always paid my claims quickly.
