i am a doctor of 20 years experience and had bupa health insurance for about 6 years before i needed to make a claim for a minor procedure(kidney stone). having been diagnosed in a+e i asked permission to see a consultant to arrange treatment and went ahead. BUPA refused to pay afterwords claiming they had only gave permission to see the consultant. I asked them if they had the request taped but surprise ,they didnt. I pointed out that I had explained my diagnosis on the phone while requesting clearance but they didnt see the logic of this. My consultant reported 3 similar episodes that month. put your money in a tin box or gamble it rather than wasting it with these liars. i am now with WPA- a lot more honest
