I was excited about the idea that I would be able to use my 23andme DNA results to some good use and use dnafit.com to give me a customised report in regards to Diet and Fitness suitable to my specific case. I was sorely disappointed. Firstly, for a week the link between 23andme did not work - giving some strange errors. I got contacted by three different customer reps from dnafit.com asking me the same questions. Questions which I had already answered in my initial email to them. Then there page does not load properly generally - I tried latest version of Chrome and a fairly new version of Internet Explorer. Forget trying to use it on your mobile. Finally the reports. It really is a gimmick! If you get tested by 23andme then there are other sites that offer an in-depth analysis (for $5) of what the 23andme results mean in regards to your health. DNAFit charges a ridiculous amount of money for this same information - about 99 and 79 GBP. They don't even offer a discounted package if you buy the two reports together. Again, there was nothing really ground breaking in the reports that people can't figure out for themselves (e.g. keep refined carbs to a minimum, increase omega 3 intake). In terms of exercise, it is again pretty straightforward - saying I have genetic makeup for 49% for strength type exercises and 51% for endurance exercises. WOW! ground breaking ... Save your money and don't let your excitement for the possibility of getting very personalised recommendations make you waste upwards of $200.
