Had been with Halifax home insurance for 6 years. When I finally claimed there were no questions asked, small print get outs or paper work hell. Awesome.

I feel the negative reviews are totally unfair. I lost my phone and glasses and some cash on the way to the airport. I just rang up and within five minutes the refund was processed through to my bank account. No quibbles as I was covered under the Personal Belongings Protection. Item: Halifax Mortgage Protection Insurance
Having been quoted by Halifax, I decided to shop around.
By typing in "mortgage unemployment insurance" in to Google, I found a calculator that reduced the price dramatically.
Instead of paying over £25 a month I got it for less than £10 a month.
O.K. I'm young, and the insurance is age related, so the younger you are the cheaper it gets, but I worked out you needed to be over 50 yrs old before it starts getting a bit expensive.
My friends have followed suit ...

The guy I spoke to at the claims department was great and very helpful put me at ease after I had an accident.
I found the service I recieved was very good, helpful I would reccomend them.

Item: Halifax Car Insurance
Accident in November (other drivers fault). Halifax didn't send paperwork to third party department for two months, took five months to request witness statement (fortunately witness hadn't moved away or died of old age in the meantime). Once statement received, did nothing with it for three months until prompted repeatedly be me. Now June... nothing sorted. Have had to renew with them as claim not settled. Don't waste your money. Get decent insurance even if it costs a little more ...
