Mother Hair Styling System – Review I have just received today my brand new mother hair styler. I had heard such much about this new hair straightener I wanted to try it for myself. The hair iron comes in a shiny black and white case with a clear sleeve over the top the box is very simple with the distinctive Mother logo in silver to the top. The box is about the size of your average shoe box and is feels quite heavy. After I removed the sleeve and lid the box contains in the top a mother styler with the standard plates attached and two separate large paddle styling plates more on those later. To the bottom left of the box is a metal label which reads Mother a mother’s love is made of iron which is a really nice touch. To get the iron out of the box you have to remove the interchangeable plate label which holds the iron’s body securely inside the box. After removing from the box the mother hair iron feels substantial before using you must un do the lock at the back of the straightener. They heat up really quickly about 30 seconds as they do you can watch the digits raise up to the temperature you need. There is a small plus and minus to lower or raise the temperature in 20 degree amounts. I have thick hair so I set them at 230 and began styling my hair with them. The first thing I noticed was how smooth the plates felt through the hair but also my hair felt lighter and softer. At 230 I can easily straighten slowly down my hair in one pass. Inside the base of the box there are two sectioning clips a heat mat and two covers for each plate. The mat and covers are made of a black rubber looking material, each cover fits over each size of plate after use. I switched off the hair iron allowed to cool then changed the plates. This is done easily with just depressing the button on the straightener body. I removed the standard plates one by one and inserted the larger paddle plate. When you insert you do not need to press the button they just click into place. I switched back on the iron and set the temperature to 230 again and let them heat up. There was no real difference to the time around 30 seconds. This time I took a little larger sections of my hair and applied a curl by lifting and using a half and a quarter turn to put in a curl. The results where fantastic the iron gave a really nice natural looking curl in one go. I left that section and applied a long straightening swoop with the large plates the hair iron glided through leaving my hair shiny and silky. I then returned to the wave I had done when it had cooled down and straightened that curl with the wide plate with one slow pass. I placed the iron on the heat mat and switched off and allowed to cool with the wide cover the plates. Other features on the iron include the standard now on all good hair straighteners 3m swivel free cord and an adapter converter plug. Conclusions I would recommend the Mother hair over any other why, because for the extra £10-£20 over other styler the titanium and 230 temperature are worth this feature alone. What makes the Mother iron different is its ability to switch plates. For long hair it means when rushing I can quickly paddle plate over before work. I can then fit the standard and apply medium flicks and waves and add detail the extra plate gives you that extra option. Another thing is the amount of styler I have had or pined after the latest plate type or hair tongs and curlers when they hit the market. With this system as more attachments are released it means I can have one styler to make many styles.
