“Crooks when you want to cancel”

I cancelled in writing giving 30 days notice, which is what I believed was all i needed when i signed up. I cancelled my direct debit as I had heard they continued to take payment unless you spotted it. I then received a letter from a company calling itself CRS, but which is actually Harlands Ltd (the people who collect your direct debit), claiming i had breached my contract and that I now had to pay £220 or they would take me to court. “Taking money after I did everything they asked to cancel”

They ignore letters and e-mails asking to cancel their service. I'm trying to fix this now, but effectively, their representatives, Harlands have sent me a letter threatenting to charge £25.00 becuase I cancelled my Direct Debit. Of course I cancelled it, we haven't used their facilities in 10 months and we've sent several letters and e-mails to cancel now the 12 month commitment is up. I joined the Bolton branch recently after sampling numerous other gyms on a trial basis in the area. In particular I tried the David Lloyd gym which, although quite good in many respect, required an annual membership fee of over £700 were totally unwilling to negotiate on price. Since following their procedure laid down in the contract to resign by the book I have been treated like a criminal. No matter how many emails; phone calls and person visits there is in no let up in what is their internal system of pursuing me for costs now at £75. Please could you give me head office email address. I am in dispute with them and Harlands. I handed in 30 day notice of cancellation after being with the gym for over 12 months. It took Swansea a month to notify head office of my cancellation and Harlands are threatening me with debt collectors because I cancelled my DD. Head office insist my cancellation is on the system as of 15th March even though I gave notice in writing to Swansea on 13th February. An email address for head office would be appreciated. Thanks

From looking at social media they are under the impression that they are proud of their gyms and facilities. You see this is the problem, the arrogance that they are "proud" & actually providing a decent service? WORST GYM every used staff are sales staff not PT's .received a very shady letter from "Credit Resolution Services" trying to claim that I should pay for the past 12 months since I cancelled the direct debit PLUS a load of made up charges!!! So "Xercise4Less" costs a lot more than other quality gyms I intend to dispute this "debt" - there is plenty of advice online if you search for "CRS Xcercise4Less" and these charges are basically unenforceable. The gym itself is not bad- you sort of get what you pay for. All the equipment you'd need to be able to get fit and so on. When I signed up I was ensured there was plenty of classes and they are all easy to book but i couldn't check the timetable as it was a spring timetable on display I joined in August staff are all nice maybe a bit pushy to get you to sign once you have signed up you don't see any staff no induction given which is a health and safety issue as I dont know how to work and weight machine but head office don't seem to have a problem with that. Joined the gym in the pre booking stage. Charged £39.99. Chose to cancel in my 14 day cooling off period. Multiple calls to try to cancel and get my refund. Told I will get called back multiple times. Never did. Got a hold of a manager who sent email about cancelling to head office and copied me in. No replies to that either. I had never heard of this company before until I received a letter from a debt recovery agency CRS! I received a letter from CRS stating that I was in debt by nearly £300 for an unpaid membership with this company, I was astounded, I had never signed up to a gym, let alone one that's over 30 miles away & at the time I was 15+ weeks pregnant anyway! 8/11 I signed up for this gym and told the salesman that I was only interested in doing classes. He gave me a reassurance that I could use the 2 week cooling off period to cancel if necessary. I am having the same problem, into my 3rd month of dispute now. Will never use again, they can see from records that I have not used the facility as well. Will never use again good to set you up on a membership but absolutely shocking at cancelling it. NEVER AGAIN WILL I USE THIS GYM

My daughter tried to cancel her membership after a year but they continued to take money out of her account by direct debit. She cancelled the direct debit and now she has had a letter from a debt recovery company!!

Its not even worth one star. Its all about getting as many members into the gym as possible, and once in your forgotten about,make a complaint?, sorry not interested. took your money by mistake?, sorry not interested. refund?.
