“Never Never Never”

Written on: 29/06/2015 by Paul1995 (1 review written)

This has got to be one of the worst business practices I have come across, and not just in the fitness sector. Paid to use the gym in June 2014 and it was open only for the final week of June. Told I was signing up to a 12 month contract with 12 monthly payments. I paid the first by credit card so was expecting to only have to pay 11 direct debit statements. They said they would post the terms and conditions to me (so I could not read them there and then) and realised it was 12 monthly direct… Read Full Review

“Joined last year - great place to train”

Written on: 29/06/2015 by Jaime418 (1 review written)

I joined Xercise4Less Hull last year, it's an awesome place to train, I've been doing lots of functional training with the Functional Rig, TRX, Kettlebells, battle ropes and ladders which I wouldn't expect a gym where I pay just £9.99pm, I'm also really impressed with the classes that are on, I do Body Pump myself but my wife goes to zumba, yoga and lbt and she speaks very highly of them all. I've just read loads of bad reviews on here but don't get which gym these people have been to. When I… Read Full Review

“By far the worst gym ”

Written on: 21/06/2015 by Mohamedt1990 (1 review written)

In my opinion it has the worst ethics and the worst business model. its like senior managers are deliberately running it down the train. I was a member of Bristol gym and it was so sad to see the way They treat their staff and personal trainers were being treated by head office. Personal trainers ate self employed who don't get paid for working there but ontop of paying rent, running 3 classes a week and working shifts for free head office has Now imposed on them to do free personal training… Read Full Review

Alastair4151's Comment

Could not agree more, worked as the Head PT for the Edinburgh gym,and they wanted me to force my team of PT's to sell £500 of Supplements each month to members and clients, and distribute and make them do PT "fitpack" sessions which they keep all the money for. When I stood up to them, and refused to enforce these policies,my P45 was immediately dispatched to me.I have now reported their antics to BBC Watchdog, and am getting nationwide support from PT's about the way they take advantage of their PT's as an easy way to make money for them.

Its disgusting how they treat you personal trainers and get away with it. A similar situation happened afew weeks ago to the head personal trainer In Bristol branch. I am interested to hear more about BBC watch dog. Maybe a few of us can give them members point of view.

“USE THEIR PT's AS CASH COWS”

Written on: 20/06/2015 by alastair4151 (2 reviews written)

I worked as a Head PT for this company for 2 months, and being in the fitness industry for 26 years was horrified at the way they treat their PT's.They consistently brought out "fitpack deals" where their members would pay them money to have 2 or 4 free PT Sessions, the latest one being 4 one hour sessions for £20.They then made it compulsory for the PT's to fulfil these sessions for nothing, while they pocketed every penny of the promotion price.Secondly they pressurised all the PT's and Head PT… Read Full Review

“Crooks when you want to cancel”

Written on: 19/05/2015 by kuHancock1987 (1 review written)

I cancelled in writing giving 30 days notice, which is what I believed was all i needed when i signed up. I cancelled my direct debit as I had heard they continued to take payment unless you spotted it. I then received a letter from a company calling itself CRS, but which is actually Harlands Ltd (the people who collect your direct debit), claiming i had breached my contract and that I now had to pay £220 or they would take me to court. Apparently I had to give 3 months notice to cancel, plus… Read Full Review

“Taking money after I did everything they asked to cancel”

Written on: 14/05/2015

They ignore letters and e-mails asking to cancel their service. I'm trying to fix this now, but effectively, their representatives, Harlands have sent me a letter threatenting to charge £25.00 becuase I cancelled my Direct Debit. Of course I cancelled it, we haven't used their facilities in 10 months and we've sent several letters and e-mails to cancel now the 12 month commitment is up. I'll have to take legal action soon if this carries on, but I warn everyone to steer clear unless you… Read Full Review

“Exercise 4 Much Much Less than the Rest”

Written on: 04/05/2015 by birdrecruit (2 reviews written)

I joined the Bolton branch recently after sampling numerous other gyms on a trial basis in the area. In particular I tried the David Lloyd gym which, although quite good in many respect, required an annual membership fee of over £700 were totally unwilling to negotiate on price. I was staggered and impressed right from the start by the high level of customer service offered by Xercise4less which has remained consistent throughout. The team were concerned about me and when I heard that the… Read Full Review

“STAY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY!”

Written on: 11/04/2015 by Nathana329 (1 review written)

Since following their procedure laid down in the contract to resign by the book I have been treated like a criminal. No matter how many emails; phone calls and person visits there is in no let up in what is their internal system of pursuing me for costs now at £75. They are totally incompetent and impersonal I have evidence of my side all the way through but this does not seem to count. Either incompetent or deliberately nasty- I don't know… Read Full Review

I can not put into words how bad this place is, The gym its self is ok. However the signing up and leaving is shocking. I have just moved house and the gym is to far for me to use it. I use the Gym with my dad who is disabled, When i signed my dad up I did everything for him paid for it, went through the membership everything they didn't even ask to speak with him and they offered me discount not because of him being disabled but to join right away on the phone, I asked would they need to… Read Full Review

Please could you give me head office email address. I am in dispute with them and Harlands. I handed in 30 day notice of cancellation after being with the gym for over 12 months. It took Swansea a month to notify head office of my cancellation and Harlands are threatening me with debt collectors because I cancelled my DD. Head office insist my cancellation is on the system as of 15th March even though I gave notice in writing to Swansea on 13th February. An email address for head office would be appreciated. Thanks

“Shocking bad gym, run by kids and not management”

Written on: 17/03/2015 by 155Vargas (1 review written)

From looking at social media they are under the impression that they are proud of their gyms and facilities. You see this is the problem, the arrogance that they are "proud" & actually providing a decent service? WOW if X4L are proud of their gyms then they are clearly walking round with rose tinted glasses! Your gyms are a shambolic mess, its not just Newcastle but Leeds, your supposed "Head Office"! The place is a shambles all because you have 3 maintenance men that maintain all the gyms up… Read Full Review

“Only pounds you will lose are out of your pocket ”

Written on: 28/02/2015 by 247Chaney (1 review written)

WORST GYM every used staff are sales staff not PT's .received a very shady letter from "Credit Resolution Services" trying to claim that I should pay for the past 12 months since I cancelled the direct debit PLUS a load of made up charges!!! So "Xercise4Less" costs a lot more than other quality gyms I intend to dispute this "debt" - there is plenty of advice online if you search for "CRS Xcercise4Less" and these charges are basically unenforceable. But it's just such a shady business… Read Full Review

“Not a bad gym but very questionable ethics when you leave”

The gym itself is not bad- you sort of get what you pay for. All the equipment you'd need to be able to get fit and so on. HOWEVER- I cancelled my direct debit after the 12 month contract had expired, and now almost a YEAR Later, I have received a very shady letter from "Credit Resolution Services" trying to claim that I should pay for the past 12 months since I cancelled the direct debit PLUS a load of made up charges!!! “Big Mistake avoid. Very poor customer service”

Written on: 05/02/2015 by andy-mu (1 review written)

Joined the gym in the pre booking stage. Charged £39.99. Chose to cancel in my 14 day cooling off period. Multiple calls to try to cancel and get my refund. Told I will get called back multiple times. Never did. Got a hold of a manager who sent email about cancelling to head office and copied me in. No replies to that either. I'm emailing direct to head office. Like all things, staff very helpful if taking out a membership. Cancelling doesn't seem to be their thing and will avoid you at all… Read Full Review

I had never heard of this company before until I received a letter from a debt recovery agency CRS! I received a letter from CRS stating that I was in debt by nearly £300 for an unpaid membership with this company, I was astounded, I had never signed up to a gym, let alone one that's over 30 miles away & at the time I was 15+ weeks pregnant anyway! I contacted the company who advised me that someone had signed me up to a contract! (not with my card details) over the Internet just with my… Read Full Review

“Xercise4less NOT AT ALL!”

Written on: 11/01/2015 by NumbersHelen (1 review written)

8/11 I signed up for this gym and told the salesman that I was only interested in doing classes. He gave me a reassurance that I could use the 2 week cooling off period to cancel if necessary. When I logged on to take a class I found waiting lists of 30! It was very clear that this was not for me then,. I went to the gym within the fortnight cooling off period and completed the cancelling down form. At no point was I given any hint that this would be a problem, even by the salesman who had… Read Full Review
