The actual gym is really good and I was a loyal customer for a year's contract while training to do the great north run for charity. After a year, a guy in the gym talked me into staying on, on a rolling month basis because I was potentially moving. I agreed and verified with their head office that this was a rolling basis. The guy messed up the start up of this, which the admin team apologised for and refunded the money he'd taken off me. The gym changed their opening hours meaning I couldn't go and work out there anymore and intended to start back up when I move in February. I called to give them a month's notice to be told that their system says I'm on a contract so I have to pay until February. I explained that it is their mistake if their system says that, went through what the guy sold me and what their head office confirmed but they have still come back to say I am on a contract on their system so must pay. Despite pointing out that I can't use the gym because they have changed their opening times it's the same answer. They are forcing me to pay money for a service they can't provide so they have broken the contract that doesn't even exist. LA Fitness' business ethics are shocking and completely underhand. Money grabbing liars. It's not worth the hassle with them - any other company would be better than this.
