LA Fitness in Kings Heath is a disgrace. The club members are furious about the double-charging model where non-members are now paying to use a lane for swimming lessons - which members are already paying for out of their monthly membership. This means now that 90% of the time, we cannot get into the pool to swim because it is too crowded - the lessons are run at times that members use the pool the most (not the least) - straight after work, and in the mornings at weekends. It's a tiny 18m pool as it is, that can reasonably accommodate 4-6 people doing lengths. There is no way now that people can use the pool for fitness as the club is advertising. I deeply regret encouraging my husband to join so that we could go swimming together (before these swim academy lessons were in force) - I feel acutely embarrassed each time that we turn up and cannot get in the pool. In short we are being robbed not only of our money, but also our fitness as a consequence.
