I am a foreign student who joined the LA Fitness gym in Cambridge near Ciniworld. I have been mislead with the gym membership contract and are finding it impossible to cancel my membership, even though I had mentioned to the sales man that I was a foreign student only in the country for a year.

I have tried several times to talk to the staff, but they are very unhelpful. Now I've read they are one of the Gyms who are currently under investigations with unfair trading practices with the OFT.

Its' shocking they don't have a series of printed prices. Apparently they tailor a membership according to your needs. More like according to how much they can get out of you.

The style of trading is just like the market's where you haggle for the best price. So if they don't like you they can get you to pay more than the last person. As a student I pay £44 and my friend who is also a student pays over £50 and we use the gym minimally - how can this be fair?
