We were told on renewing our membership last year that cancellation was one month's notice - this was said repeatedly by the member of staff who processed the renewal and we didn't notice that the paperwork said differently. Also, the cancellation period does not start until the NEXT calendar month AFTER the one in which you have written to cancel membership.
So we have just had to pay over £300 to cancel our membership!!! Three month's worth of membership to cover the three month's notice that we were unknowingly contractually bound to give. All news to us.
We have just made the payment because we have no choice but remain deeply dissatisfied with the whole experience and will never, ever go near a David Lloyd Gym membership again EVER. Will NOT recommend to worst enemy.
Previously had great experience at Fitness First - will return to them instead!
