I went to the Canterbury branch where I have been a member for 2 years at 8.10pm on Friday evening. As an off peak member I usually pay the additional fee of £6 to upgrade for the month if I use the gym beyond my membership agreement. On this occasion I was refused entry as they had 'cashed up' and were closing at 9pm! Despite offering to pay on my next visit and a making a number of alternative suggestions I was refused. They could have simply waved me through. It appears that the customer service default position is to simply say no rather than trying to accommodate. I wasn't sure who's benefit they were there for, customers or their own!
