“Bannatyne Gym”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 29/07/2012

After enjoying a spa day as a gift at the Quay Street gym, I decided to join the Chepstow Street gym due to location. During joining I was told exactly what I wanted to hear. This caused problems later. How the gym dealt with my complaints was to break into my locker remove my stuff and then when complaining about this to revoke my membership after accusing me quite unfairly and untruthly of swearing at a member of staff over the phone. I advised them to invest in staff training as, if this is how they do business then unfortunately the terrible way the staff handled my complaint they are very unlikely to retain future clientele. Think this gym is really more for the day spa customer. Also like to add about inconsistencies across the gyms. The Chepstow street lacked facilities available at Quay Street. Was told on joining that refurshibment was taking place within the month. This never manifested after several months (as I said told a great deal of rubbish to get me to sign up). I paid extra for towels to find that anyone could take a towel, except when the inspector was in. But if I went to the other gym that I had to pay again for towels something else omitted to be informed about.

I agree, Chepstow service does not match the other Manchester Gyms. I find the towel inconsistancies silly.

The staff are snotty and sadly so are a number of the members (clique). Even more annoyingly is the instructors favourtism with the clique who are at the front of every class. Ignoring anyone else in classes who might be struggling or need advice.

There is a lot of changing room birchiness.

The location and validated parking is the only advantage to this gym. Though the lady with short blonde hair on reception is lovely.

Avoid this gym if you are new or a first time gym member, its not friendly at all. Whereas Quay street and Whitworth are.

Hi

I signed up to the chingford branch in November 2012, I informed the staff that I was expecting to relocate in the new year and was told told that it would not be a problem to cancel my membership in the first three months, I have the document to prove that this was said to me. I have again been relocated and there is not a bannatyne gym where I will be moving. I have made numerous phone calls and each time have been told to send an email which I have done and I am still awaiting a response. After reading the comments posted it seems that I am not the only person struggling with the customer service received and the lack of response from head office to resolve this issue.
