“Some problems during construction”

★★★☆☆

written by christmas_ski on 21/06/2013

I had several difficulties during construction and my initial reaction was decidedly unhappy. Some of the very first parts required were missing, which was not a good start. There was also a problem with ridge bars which did not fit, and the net supplied had been cut wrongly. These discrepancies made me wonder whether I was reading the instructions correctly. Clearly, erecting the polytunnel proved frustrating in my case. It is not a task that should be underestimated. However, replacement parts were provided promptly and without quibbling. Personally, I would suggest two days is rather optimistic and some of the instructions could be improved. That said, First Tunnels have wanted to understand and redeem the situation; both to ensure my immediate problems were resolved and any wider issues were identified and dealt with.

I am after a polytunnel for my garden which is strong and robust and can withstand some windy weather even though my garden is fairly sheltered. I had a fruit cage but it was not robust enough and kept on being blown over even though we put some ties on it like a tent! So I am a litte apprehensive about spending more money on something which could be the same, I would like to go and have a look at some which are already erected, I live in Herefordshire. I would like just a frame if possible and I can get netting separately. I am aiming to grow cauliflowers, cabbages and broccoli mainly. Am totally fed up with pests on my produce and spraying endlessly. Will this work?
