“Used to work there.”

★★★★☆

I used to work for Pareto. I left the company 2 years ago and with that came the inevitable challenges when you leave a company in this sort of industry.

The reason I mention that is to highlight that I am not biased and have no alterior motive for what I write below. felt compelled having read some reviews which I think are misleading and unfair.

The reality is that Pareto Law are an outstanding company as far as recruitment into sales goes. This is true from a client and candidate perspective. However, sales is just not for some people. It is a strange industry which focuses heavily on a very small set of skills which are almost exclusively 'soft'. It is also a career that facilitates a lifestyle rather than being a vocation - very few people decide they are desperate to have a career selling enterprise software for example (I hope not anyway).

If you really want to be in the Policeforce, work with animals, be a journalist or any other passion then dont waste your time going - it won't be what you want whether you get through or not. However, if like me, you don't really know what you want to do and regard your best skills as being your ability to confidently engage with people, to 'get up and go' and the other attributes that Pareto will tell you that you need, then sales could be a really good fit. From a personal perspective despite not having any discernible skills I earn more than any of my friends in Finance, Law and Accounting/Consulting. I work a lot less hours (now that i am established)and the opportuntiies to progress and travel are much, much easier to come by.

I would say that sales is not for everyone and the Pareto process may not always be perfect. However, if you think sales could be a good career for you then go to an assessment day and see what comes of it - Pareto are genuinely the best connected company within sales (at entry level) that I have come across by a long, long way. I very much doubt that many of the bad reviews are from people who have worked with another firm and gone on to thrive in sales. It is more likely from people who felt that the whole industry was wrong for what they wanted from their career. Fair enough.

P.S Sorry if the above is poorly written.
