“Madonna Murrayfield Edinburgh 21st July 2012”

Written on: 26/07/2012

I am beyond disappointed. As an ardent Madonna fan I was really looking forward to this concert, but it was a big let down. I got into the Golden Circle at 5pm (there was hardly anyone there) and Madonna was on stage in her sweat pants, hair in a scraggy ponytail with no make up on looking like a right chav! She did a one hour sound check and played about 10 songs - well, if you can call it playing. She was hardly singing or playing her guitar at all and she looked really rough!!! I didn't want to see that! So by the time she actually came on at 9pm I was over it - I never even pushed my way to the front to see her (even though I could have easily done so), I just watched the video screens... The stage settings/video screens were quite lame, the choreography was dire and I just generally found the whole thing pretty uninspired. And don't get me started about the sound! My friend and I could talk to each other at the front!!! Murrayfield was a bad choice of venue for a show that relied on so much played-back electronic music and video footaqge. Madonna just looked like she was going through the motions, although it was obvious she was trying really hard at the same time... It's such a shame that things have ended this way for me (I won't be going to see her ever again), as I thought the Confessions Tour and Sticky and Sweet were great! I'm positive she sang live at these shows and the choreography was much better. I really hate to say this, but she should have made Sticky and Sweet her last tour. I think she is just fulfilling her contract. Not impressed.
