I have bought items on Buy Now Pay Later on a few occasions. I do not like paying interest therefore I make sure the balance is cleared well in advance of the deadline! On EVERY occasion K & Co have made a last ditch attempt to claim that I still owe them money! The first time, they decided to add an item I had ordered on regular payment terms, onto my CLEARED buy now pay later balance with the threat of charging interest on that!!! The second time, I paid in full but on the last statement K & Co randomly flung an extra £2 onto one of the items and charged interest based on this. I contacted them to rectify this and eventually they did. Third time, despite me making payments and never having to follow up with a call because they were always automatically allocated to BNPL, I made my penultimate payment which they LEFT SUSPENDED in payment space so that they could add...yep you guessed it...interest onto the final statement. I called the Customer 'care' line. Was on hold for more than 10 minutes. Eventually spoke to someone who insisted that I needed to have called after payment...but could provide NO reason as to why only THIS crucial payment was left in limbo!...We all know why don't we??? Anyway I told them to allocate the last £20 paid, to the BNPL items and take £20 as my final payment. I actually only owed 16.90 so requested the £3.10 left over to be tagged onto my upcoming (and final) lot of goods due to be paid in November!
For their latest trick, I received a statement (following the last mix up and subsequent payment) CONFIRMING that I had paid for my last set of goods in May, CONFIRMING that £3.10 had been allocated to the future BNPL goods...but claiming I still owe them £19.87!!!...Yep, you will have already worked out that this does not add up AT ALL! After the first debacle, I make VERY sure that I do not place ANY orders with them whilst paying of BNPL goods, so with one lot being cleared, my current balance should be £0.00. I called them, got kept on hold for more than 20 minutes at which point the call got cut off! I am FUMING! I have sent them a strong worded email informing them that I expect them to rectify this immediately!!! Let's see. What I DO know is that once I pay off my final BNPL bill, I will be closing this account FOR GOOD!
It does make me think though...I wonder how many people who may not keep accurate records of payments to these people, have been conned by this scam of demanding more money than they actually owe??!!!
Avoid like the PLAGUE!!!
