I love hot food, maybe a little too much, and as such my girlfriend bought me a trip to a chilli farm for my 30th birthday. On Saturday, 9 months after the present was given to me, we finally made it along to the chilli farm. There's a few things I'd like to say about them: (1) This was one of those experience day presents. I generally detest these things, largely because they make money out of the fact that most people never redeem their vouchers, and because they generally make it really difficult to organise your trip (therefore meaning you're even less likely to redeem your voucher). This certainly wasn't the case with Edible Ornamentals. First time I called them they answered the phone, and actually made booking a pleasure. They even allowed me to redeem my voucher after it had expired, which was very nice of them. (2) The tour was very good, really informative, and given by the lady that actually runs the chilli farm. It started with some information on how to grow and maintain chillis, then we went chilli-picking, then we saw where they cook all the chilli sauces, before doing some chilli tasting. What I didn't realise was that we were actually going to end up with a huge bag of chilli's at the end of the tour - not quite sure what we're going to do with them, but we've got enough to last us for a very long time. If there's someone you know with a penchant for hot food, this would make an excellent Christmas or birthday present.
