Your website is great and easy to use. We ordered the basic topsoil and found it to be excellent quality. Half went into the raised bed I have made from old fence posts and the other half is stored to go in another raised bed once my strawberries have finished fruiting. My neighbour could not believe the quality of the soil as the load he had delivered from a well known national firm was extremely sandy. He will probably be contacting you when he next needs topsoil. Placed an order on the 3rd of May for 10kg of Dandys Platinum Grass seed, scheduled delivery day of Friday 10th of May, received notification late Thursday 9th of May that they were out of stock and did not know when they would be in stock. At this point they asked if I still wanted to go ahead with the order. We had a scheduled delivery date and had organised a gardener to come over the weekend. “Good service - quality product”

I ordered a load of Vegegrow topsoil - delivered on time by the most helpful driver. Very happy with the product now in place in the garden with my veg now happily growing in it. One thing to note that the delivery requirements state that hard standing is required. This really needs to be smooth and level hard standing as the delivery driver only had a small pallet truck to wheel the soil onto my drive - which proved impossible for the small wheels to go over my crumbling tarmac.... “Very good product - delivery questionnable?”

The soil and bark we ordered were great. The service was prompt and the price excellent. However when we ordered the goods we did say that we had a gravel drive therefore a delivery truck with a grab arm or a smaller truck ie the size of a skip truck would be able to drive onto the drive to make the delivery. On the day an articulated lorry arrived and the goods were left blocking our drive. Not at all satisfactory - it doesn't seem anyone read our notes. Not sure I would use Dandy's again... (read more)

We are sorry to hear that your delivery was not as smooth as it could be. We work closely with PalletForce who are a palletised network haulier, we do not advertise delivery with a hiab crane as the costs of running these vehicles becomes very expensive. The delivery information on our website explains the delivery procedure, how it works, that we are restricted and that we can deliver to gravel due to the pump trucks that the drivers offload with. Normally vehicles are 18 tonner with tail lifts, which yes are large wagons but are not articulated. If you had requested a 7.5 tonner, which is slightly smaller then we would have made sure that your request was followed through and the depot informed. It seems that on this occasion the depot either did not pick up these notes or did not have a 7.5 tonner available, for which we can only apologies. We will raise these issue with PalletForce for their reference.

Took delivery of 4 bags of top soil last year (2012). First class delivery, first class product. Placed an order for a further bag last month (March 2013). First class delivery - top soil very poor quality. I requred the top soil to top dress a large area of lawn that had been seeded. Top soil sieved and 20% of grit, stone and other was greater than 6mm and had to be discarded. No comparison to the quality of last year. Wilol not be buying any more. (read more)

Looking for topsoil over the easter holidays and found a couple of local suppliers. One had a tel number to leave an enquiry, the other was Dandy's who had an option to email. I was concerned about delivery of the order as the property is situated on the top of a hill. I spoke to a very helpful person and together we checked out the address on google maps. He said that he would request a smaller (7 tonne) lorry for the delivery and there wouldn't be a problem. I asked specifically for the order to be delivered between 8.00 and 10.15 but this didn't happen. I received a call to say the delivery company were having issues and they would deliver by 2.00pm. Delivery on time although driver required my assistance to move the bag. Soil / organic mix appears good but too many significant lumps in the soil when spread. I recognise this is not screened soil but needs to be more consistent density. (read more)

As our Multi Purpose Topsoil is mixed with a screened organic compost you will fine that there are small lumps of unbroken down compost that are present when spreading out your soil. You simply need to break with down and mix into the rest of your topsoil. All of our topsoil's are screened to 10mm and then mixed with either compost, manure, sand or soil improver.

We are sorry to hear that there were small pieces of plastic in your topsoil you received, even the screening process that we use can let very tiny particles though the 10mm mesh. We are always trying to improve and develop the products we offer and we have recently improved the screening that we do to hopefully eradicate even the tiniest of possible debris. All of our topsoil comes from a greenfield site so you know it is free of chemicals and toxins but unfortunately it can contain small debris that are found which we then screen out.

Ordered 2 ton of soli and a ton of gravel from Dandy's. It was originally meant to be delivered on a Thursday but the Haluage firms lorry broke down so the delivery had to be made the following morning which was Good Friday. Dandy's were very apologetic. On Good Friday morning the soil and gravel was delivered and the driver was more than helpful making sure the delivery was put into a suitable place. All in all happy even so the Haulage truck broke down. Would Recommend Dandy's to a friend. (read more)

really pleased with the service arrived when they said it would, although on the sit it said that if you brought 1000 litres it may come as one large bag and two small bags but I only received the one bag so never new if I got the right amount. product is good quality though and as I live in Scotland they did not rip me off for delivery. I purchased a dumpy bag of topsoil for a raised vegetable bed I am making in my garden. It arrived on time and the delivery driver was very helpful. Dandy's topsoil is consistently good. I have now ordered their organic vegetable garden soil, the border soil mix and now a further delivery of vegetable garden topsoil. The delivery day can be planned to suit you and the delivery drivers are really helpful and always try to deposit your order where it is required. I have no hesitation in recommending them. Made an order for two jumbo - bags of Vegegrow Top soil and they arrived on time and the delivery guy was great and very helpfull. Living in a remote part of North Wales I often struggle to find suppliers of even the basic products. Dandy's came up quickly whilst searching the web. They have a good range of products and their ordering process no problem. Delivery was scheduled for a few days later, the wagon arrived as promised and the pallet unloaded and located promptly, conveniently and with humour. Altogether it was good experience. (read more)

“Dandy's Winter Compost”

I came across Dandy's when I was searching for some good Compost The price was good and something about the site made me feel this was the place for me So I took the bull by the horns and ordered a *Special Offer* Wintermix Compost - BEST BUY: Jumbo bag (apx 1150ltrs) £99.95 when it arrived the Driver who was VERY courteous pushed it onto my Drive I also was given a free snow shovel which I might add is something I would not have bought but it has come in handy for such a lot of things I... “Lawn Top Dressing”

I ordered 40 bags of Dandy's Top Dressing and these arrived palleted in just a few days and in very good condition. All of the bags were intact and did not split while I was moving them. The top dressing mix looked OK, if a little heavy on sand, but it should do the job I wanted it to. (read more)

“Easy site to navigate and delivery is spot on”

The Dandy's website is very easy to navigate and ordering is straightforward. Apart from the great range of products available, the fact that I can specify a delivery date (and for a small fee specify a time slot as well) is a great benefit. I'll be using Dandy's again and I would certainly recommend the site to my friends. (read more)

The delivery couldn’t have been better – both vehicles arrived within an hour of each other and the drivers were really helpful. As for the quality of the topsoil and turf .... simply superb! I opted for bagged topsoil (dodgy back) and was knocked out by the quality: Beautiful consistency and not a single lump or inclusion to be found. A joy to work with! We have used Dandy's for our gardening needs since moving into our new property ......... Each order has been delivered on the proposed day and delivery drivers were pleasant and happy to please .... Which makes a nice change ........ We ordered Play bark which was great quality each time we ordered.... as we work through our garden we will be using Dandy's...... Really liked the after service email asking if we were happy with our order too..... extended customer service is the way forward... (read more)

“Wouldn't use anyone else”

I have ordered twice from Dandy's - one order for bordermix soil and the other for topsoil. Both were of excellent quality and were perfect for my garden makeover. The ordering process was straightforward and delivery was very quick. The delivery man even reversed up the drive so that the pallets could be placed as near to the back garden as possible thus reducing the journeys with wheelbarrow! And of course, the price was very competitive. Would not hesitate to recommend Dandy's . (read more)

Hello and thank you for your honest feedback,
We are very sorry that the product you had ordered became out of stock before we had chance to dispatch it in time for your delivery; we were let down by our supplier and had to inform all customers expecting delivery of grass seed on that day. We tried to get hold of you to inform you and in the end had to email you, which was the day before your seed was due to arrive. We did apologise profusley for any inconvenience caused for the delay both in the email and over the telephone the following day. We try our very best to ensure all orders are delivered on time with out delays but unfortunately on this occasion there was nothing that could be done. We did dispatch your order of grass seed the following working day as soon as the stock became available.
Again we are very sorry for any inconvenience caused and if you need any products in the furture please do not hesitate to contact us and we will see what we can do for you.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. You did indeed deliver the goods as soon as they became available, however, you gave me a delivery date and I did not receive the goods on that date. If you give a specific date I expect you need to keep it, it's really that simple. I explained to you on the phone I had organised someone to be there the day after the scheduled date. I explained further that he had rescheduled his work load to accommodate me for that day. I disagree entirely with the statement there was nothing you could do, you could keep a tighter control of your stock, you could refrain from making deliver commitments you cannot meet, you can select suppliers who wont let you down, you can offer compensation to customer you let down. Regards

I am really very sorry to read of the problems above which resulted in your delivery being delayed.
You are correct in all of your points raised above and in this instance I would like to personally arrange for the money you spent on the grass seed to be returned to you as quickly as possible.
