I had got to the point in my career, that I was bored and fancied a change. I had worked for 3 years in London since graduating and many of my friends were moving abroad. Whilst I wasn't ready to make this large step, I was ready to do something different. Concerned that I didn't want to go travelling and have a gap in my CV, I searched for ways I could work abroad and develop my marketing skills. I Google Marketing Projects Abroad and Projects Abroad popped up. After reading their marketing project page, I knew I had to do it.
I couldn't have picked a better option than Cape Town, the city is absolutely amazing and the culture is fantastic. An area with such rich local history, was always going to be a winner!
My project evolved me working in an international charity, working as a marketing volunteer. The people at my placement were amazing and gave me the opportunity to try out the working environment in Cape Town. Whilst at weekends I could work out what the local area and community was like. For me it gave me the break for my desk job i really needed, whilst experiencing a whole different city.
