India Volunteering Experience with PMGY

I have spent 5 weeks so far in India living with the Bandhu family who have been very hospitable throughout my time here. I have benefitted enormously from teaching in the slum school, largely due to the amount of input I was allowed to suggest with reference to the general running of the school. The projects are to say the least what you make of them, it’s more about using your initiative to help others whether that be in a hospital or school environment, than being given a strict schedule, which I think you would find hard to find anywhere in India. The flexibility of the programmes allows you to see or do as much as you want, and also means that those wishing to travel can venture much further than perhaps originally anticipated. The Bandhu family are also very helpful with regards to putting together your travelling arrangements, advising you on the best suitable modes of transport and general popular destinations in relation to your interests. The food provided is lovely, and they are also very accommodating for those who have special dietary requirements. In general the house has a very lovely atmosphere, and I would highly recommend it to those seeking a fulfilling volunteer experience.
