I traveled to India for a month to experience the Indian healthcare system and immerse myself in the Hindi culture by staying with a host family, and I have gained so much more than a simple hospital placement.
Before I arrived in India Philip and Gad provided me with all the information I needed and reassured my worries, always replying to emails in a timely fashion. To be honest what really attracted my to Plan My Gap Year was the very affordable price but I didn't expect to get so much for my money! Both in the UK and my stay in India. Right from the offset in arrivals at the airport I was made to feel comfortable and safe and this reassuring start to my trip continued throughout my time here.
There is so much opportunity to contribute to the community here in Faridabad, not only have I experienced the medical side in small clinics, mobile community ambulance distributing much needed medication and experiencing larger government hospitals, I have had the extremely worthwhile opportunity to work with some amazing children, and adults alike, in the orphanage, slum school and women's empowerment project. Such eye opening and valuable experiences, that I will never forget. Thank you so much to Kranti and Dr. Bandhu for these amazing opportunities, providing delicious food until I'm stuffed and most importantly making me feel I am at a home from home.
