I volunteered on the GVI Seychelles Terrestrial Project for five weeks. I loved every minute! It was a truely amazing oppourtunity I would love to do again. Part of the project involved recording turtle nesting activity and there and we saw quite a few turtles laying their eggs. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We also relocated the eggs from two nests as they were not far enough above the hightide line. These eggs have since hatched and to know I had a huge influence in their survival is a feeling I will cherish forever. This program was very physical and involved a lot of walking in the sun every day. However, we were involved in the collection of data for three very different scientific surveys and so every day was different. The program was based on a beautiful, uninhabited beach that I loved waking up on everyday. I would recomend this project to anyone who is interested in living on a beautiful beach for a few weeks, wants to make a huge scientific contribution and to make a difference in the world.
