“A good start”

★★★★☆

I wanted to earn while travelling and do something constructive so the Thailand tefl seemed ideal.
I am a female travelling alone so the support offered along the way made everything seem less scary.

As courses go I would say the Island Tefl with Darron on Koh Samui is one of the best, mainly because Darron is a fantastic teacher, very patient, kind and helpful.

The Gap360 list of what your money buys is inaccurate - no bbq on the beach, thai boxing etc - plus Thai boxing shows in Lamai are free anyway!
It's almost as is the company didn't have faith in its product and had to make up a list of other stuff the cash pays for.
It wold be nice if the advertising of the product was more honest. island Tefl is a good course but i suppose if people booked straight through them, gap360 wouldn't make any money...

I passed with a 96 per cent average. Darron instructed me how to get to Bangkok, find a hotel and start job hunting. I found work within a week and did it without the help of an agency.

The part about a guaranteed job was a little misleading. I was under the impression that Gap360 placed people in work but this is not the case.
People are referred to a job agency. A job is guaranteed because there is so much work for English teachers in Thailand.
One must be aware that a job offer could be any teaching job anywhere in Thailand. The agency will also take a commission from your wage.

As for value for money, I am dubious - I found a number of language schools and organisations that will give you Tefl training and a qualification for free before you start working with them. If you know the industry you don't actually have to pay for a Tefl.

As a leg up into life in Thailand the whole trip is good to do, if like me you have never been to Thailand and had no idea what you were doing!

I would advise anyone to give it a blast but if you know Thailand, I wouldn't bother.

As experiences go, so far it has been fantastic!
If I knew back before I booked, what I know now, it's difficult to say whether I would have still booked through Gap360.
I could have saved cash by working with a company that pays for the Tefl or maybe booked direct through island Tefl.
If I hadn't booked the Tefl at all I would not have met the great people I did on my course and had the great experiences I have had.
I also would not have found the jobs I have now.
