“Madagascar with Frontier”

Having been to uni i have still found it hard applying for jobs conservation and when i spoke to to someone at frontier who came to my university they were really helpful and suggested i try getting experience volunteering and i might have more luck with work once i have done more hands on experience. I chose to do the madagascar divingn project because there is so much wildlife, which i studied at university, and it was a great chance to learn to dive at the same time as seeing amazing wildlife and learning about conservation. The only problem i had was i couldn't afford to stay longer and i think i would have kept on learning so much if i had stayed but i have made some really great friends and work contacts and it has given me new skils to.

I think my best memory was when we went to one satellite camp to check what the area was like as no one had been there before. It was so basic and we could only bring enough things with us that we could carry. It was tough to get there but once we did it felt like we was in another world because it was so quiet and it felt like there was no one around for miles and miles. It was so pretty living right on the beach and learning species while having fun with new friends. We used to walk down to the beach at night to look at the stars and its fasinating many stars your can see because its so far fro th lights of towns and cities. The base camp is right on the beach too, which means you can go for a snorkel as soon as camp duty is done, and even days off we went out and practiced learning species right in our back yard! because we were sharing camp with the forest conservation volunteers i was also able to learn alot about the lemurs and chamaleons that are always hanging about near camp. I would go back in a heart beat and now am looking forward to being involved in a career in conservation as soon as i can!
