I spent two weeks out of my month long trip to Madagascar volunteering with Azafady's ACP program. It was quite a rewarding experience. I was able to experience Madagascar in a way I wouldn't have otherwise. Taking part in the animal research gave me the opportunity to learn more deeply about the species and the environmental issues they face. I was able to learn more about how the local people affect their environment and how much they really depend on it. I really enjoyed making fuel efficient stoves for the local families and also conducting our bi-weekly environmental education lessons. There was such a variety of activities to do that it was always exciting. There was a lot of down time between activities so be prepared with lots of books or games! Also, you should be okay with eating a lot of rice and beans!!
