With the PlayStation 4’s launch in month's away, Sony releases its third version of the PlayStation, known as the “Super Slim.” Sony will offer three models of this system: the 250GB model, 500GB model, and a 12GB Flash memory model that’s only available in Europe. What's different about this model? The biggest difference between the super slim and previous PS3 models is the power supply. The new super slim, uses half the power of the original PS3, which has an immense 380W power supply. The only other improvement is the size of the system. It’s now lighter and smaller. This console disgusts me. First, the system looks cheap, and feels like it was made of plastic. Handling the system will also leave many finger prints, which may turn fans away from this new console. The main down on this new system is the price. One would think Sony would cut the price of this console because they removed many things. For example, they removed the original disc loading design, and replaced it with an odd sliding tray.
I would only recommend this new console if you are not a current owner of a PlayStation 3. If you already own one, then do not upgrade to this system. It’s a waste of money, and nothing major has really upgraded, other than size difference. Sony, without doubt, released this console to try to make all the profit they can off of the PlayStation 3, before they release the PlayStation 4.
