I purchased the above in August 2009 and recently the digital temperature display went up to 17 degrees and would not come back down hence the fridge had a problem and would not cool down. I tried to contact Samsung but to no ovail owing to the fact that it was a Friday night. On the Saturday morning the situation was exactly the same so I had to contact a local engineer who told me over the telephone that he could fix the problem for £136 all in and no additional costs. He said that he would come out on Sunday to fix it. True to his word he came to my house and fixed the problem however whilst doing so he informed me that it was a common fault with this model and several other types, he went on to say that Samsung were very much aware of the problem and this prompted me to contact Samsung on Monday the following day. I talked to a guy called Mark at Samsung customer services who told me that they were aware of the problem and what the engineer had told me was correct. I told Mark that the repair had cost me £136 and that I would like them to give me my money back. Mark said they will not do this because I did not use one of there service engineers, I pointed out that they were not open to talk to and my food was going off, I had no other way to turn, they are still refusing to refund me. I told them that I had probably saved them money as it would have cost them more than this to send one of there engineers out and they actually agreed. The customer service staff were very disrespectfull, at one point they put me on hold and then cut me off, I am sure this was done on purpose as when I rang back I managed to speak to a lady who told me that Mark had told her he had finnished dealing with my complaint which was not the case at all. I explained to the lady that I had not seen the Watchdog programme, I did not subscribe to Which magazine either so how was I suuposed to know that there was a fault on this appliance. I think its an absaloute disgrace that they will not refund my money and I will never purchase another Samsung product in my life.
