I send money to India using Xoom .Its been 6 days since I transfered the money and there is still no trace in the recipients account.Whenever I call customer care,they say that the partner is experiencing technical difficulties and the money would be credited in 24 hrs...They keep on repeating the same 24 hr story every time I call them .I would not recommend using XOOM ....its terrible and cannot be relied on .

I was researching to use them instead of Western Union. Though Western Union offered a higher exchange rate (54.91 vs 54.39) and WU has a 35p spread , I was tempted by their online feature and simplicity. I did not have to drive to a WU Agent location.

But once I read this, I am going to Western Union. The 25$ and the money on spread balances out. For a $2000 transaction it is 1000 INR close to 20$. WU and they differ by only a few dollars (3-4) and WU has distribution points at local post offices. No need for a bank A/C.

I wanted to use them - but the above comment turned me off. I do not want my elderly folks running from pillar to post (and me chasing).
