I used this service to move savings between countries. The initial setup was easy, prompt and efficient service on the phone for the first transaction. After the first transfer, which took around 5 days, subsequent transfers were concluded in 2-3 days. This was between Canada and the UK, most time was taken waiting for the Canadian banks (I used 2 - BMO and RBC) to process the payment. I send funds regularly to Canada. On previous occasions I used the high street banks, but their rates were always low and the amount purchased was never the amount that was deposited. It was always less. This was because they used intermediary banks to send the funds and each bank would take their cut- even though it was a wired currency transfer in the funds of that country (so no fx conversion required) – These were hidden charges that you are never told about. This service was excellent. Fast service and a great rate of exchange. I was exchanging GBP for Euros and sending funds to a bank in Hurghada, Egypt. Everything went like clockwork and receiving bank received the funds very quickly. The only problem was that the the amount deposited into the receiving bank was less than the original quote. This was the first time I used a service like this and I had intended to do everything online. However I had a question and rang up for some help and they offered to do the whole transaction over the phone which did make everything much easier. It didn't cost any more more to deal with it on the phone, I got a confirmation email and everything worked perfectly. Good service at a decent exchange rate (Pound Sterling to US Dollar). Communications were always clear and responses were expedient. I have used this service for the first time to transfer funds to my French bank account for bills and holiday. At the last check, 7 days in, we have still not received these funds and Travelex seems powerless to help. Will never use again.
