“American Dollars”

Written on: 22/06/2013

Same for me - ripped off. Bought £200 in USA Dollars, found Thomson had given me $1.43 to the £. Then found Sainsburys were giving $1.51. Got home and found the £3.95 buy back charge. Ah well, I have learnt my lesson: never again will I go to Thompson

This happened exactly to me. Bought Euros also ripped off and found I had also been charged £3.95 buy-back without even being asked whether I wanted it. My husband happened to go to a different branch of Thomson in a different town on a different day and exactly the same thing happened to him. This is mis-selling and I will be taking the matter up further with Thomsons, Trading Standards for misrepresentation and possibly Watchdog. Returned to the store today and was offered a refund but in principle this underhand sales tactic needs to be looked into and exposed further
