Money transfer for dummies

Surprisingly excellent service from HiFX. I say surprising, because this sort of personal service and attention to detail is a rarity in the UK these days. The registration process is a little involved and confusing to start with if you've not transferred money this way before, but perfectly understandable considering the security and accuracy needed to transfer large amounts of money safely. I was taken through the process with utmost patience by friendly staff on the phone and by email. When I needed to conduct another transfer 6 months later from abroad, it couldn't have been quicker or easier. The on-line process was smooth and idiot-proof, and I especially appreciated the clear step by step instructions and 'what you need to do next' approach with email updates. Faster, easier and cheaper than doing a bank transfer (and I'm disinclined to make UK banks any richer than they already are). Spend a little time familiarising yourself with the process before you start (step by step guide on the HiFX website), and it will make it less confusing.
