They made a mistake on my transaction and apologised. Complaints department not at all helpful, See email response below: I am afraid I am personally embarrassed on this occasion as, having re read my email, I realise that my mistyping has caused this confusion. Rather than typing “150 points” my email should have read “250 points”. The fact is that the order was set at 250 points from the market and that is why it was not achieved. I hope this answers your question and please accept my apologies for the confusion my mistyping caused. Making up typo error to cover up. The company does not have a set rate for all their customers, They have different rules and rates for different customers depending what they can get away with, that is the only way this type of mistakes can be made. One employee tells me one rate and another tells me another rate, then blames a typo to cover it up. An apology doesn't cut it when I stand to lose thousands of pounds worth of Dollars and Halo gains thousands of pounds at my expense. Not a professional company. Stay well clear of this Halo, there are loads of other companies offering rates at less than half what Halo charges. Good Luck.

We have used Halo Financial's services since moving to France over five years ago. A brief phone call is all that is needed to arrange the transfer of funds. The transaction is usually completed within two hours of the purchase sum being received from our bank. Electronic confirmation of receipt and transfer of funds is prompt and clear. The people with whom I have dealt are polite and helpful and are able to offer their professional advice. I have recommended Halo to friends.

I have used Halo financial on many occasions. On one occasion this involved sending a large amount of money from England to Canada. I was so worried about sending the money safely and securely. I was so fortunate to have Halo offer me this excellent service. A friend recommended Halo financial to me and I am so pleased he did. I was able to set my target rate for when my money was exchanged which helped a lot. There was enough stress emigrating so this took one of the stress factors away. My private banker was excellent and offered lots of support and reassurance to me. I still deal with Halo financial to this day and find their service to be of an excellent standard.

I have been using Halo for euros purchase and transfer to the canaries for almost 10 years. They have always provided a great exchange rate and a fast transfer of funds. This morning I emailed them asking for 8000 euros, I paid using on-line banking and the euros were in my spanish account this afternoon. Brilliant.

“Not exact with numbers or dates”

My initial communication with Halo Financial was positive but their lack of transparency regarding exact currency amounts and dates caused me to cancel my order with them. For clarity, my advisor emailed: " The rate on EUR into GBP now is 1.3170 and we will take the £5 fee off at the Sterling end. This means E 500 will equate to £384 per month. " Then after agreeing I received a confirmation email which quoted €510.73 per month for 384GBP. After rejecting this confirmation I received an email the day after the agreement from my advisor saying: " It was never going to work out that you would receive £384 from Euro 500. " Please be cautious when dealing with this company.

As a retired banker I know how much profit the "clearers" make from simple forex transactions. With £15,000 to send to Canada in dollars, I searched the comparison websites and decided to follow up with Halo. I got all the information I needed about the process, the security and the charging structure in one friendly and focused telephone call. I registered straight away (no problems with this process), and the next day rang up top fix the rate for my transfer. It could not have been quicker or easier. My funds reached Halo after a couple of hours, and the dollars arrived in Canada within 24 hours. I estimate my saving when compared to clearing bank rates at around £300. In summary, the process works, the telephone consultant was excellent and there were no points where I would suggest any improvement based on my first experience with them

I wrote a review 26/01/2013 and gave Halo 1 star. However, two years later, after discussing the details about another potential transfer with them, I used Halo again. I have to say I am so glad I did. The whole process was completely opposite to my previous experience. The staff were extremely helpful and transparent about every aspect of the transaction. Everything went smoothly, exactly as described and I received a good rate. For a extremely small reduction (barely noticeable) in the exchange rate. Halo sorted the intermediary banking fees. I am very please I gave Halo a second chance and would highly recommend them.

“Do not trust them”

I used Halo to for a simple GBP to USD transaction. They couldn't process the payment but instead of closing out the trade on the day with zero Pnl waited for over 3 weeks to tell me. Then claimed I was responsible. I had to get Financial ombudsman Services involved to sort it out. There are other money transfer companies..

“Unanswered questions”

I wanted to send some Pounds Sterling to the Euro Zone and I thought I'd give the service a try for the first time. But I like to research a bit before taking the plunge with anything new. Their web page gave no clear indication of what the rates are, how they are calculated, what fees apply and how long it takes. So I send them an email asking these questions. I expected some straightforward answers to these straightforward questions. But instead I got a general email with the process explained, it looked a bit cumbersome for my needs, but no answers to my questions. This was followed up by a few more emails recommending their service and offering me incentives. Rightly or wrongly, I interpreted this as a lack of transparency. Perhaps I'm being unfair to Halo Financial, but when using on-line services I want to be as sure as I can be that I've picked the right choice and I'm not getting a bad deal, especially as my transaction was in the order of several thousand pounds. Halo Financial's emails did not reassure me. In the end I decided to go elsewhere.

what the conversion rates Halo applies ?
how they are calculated?
what fees halo apply ?

Thank you for your message - unfortunately we did not get email notification of this message. We aim to get you the most competitive rate we can and generally always beat the banks. For the latest rates contact us direct on the details below. There are no fees for transfers over £5000 or more. Normally most transfers can be completed within 24 hours, many times even quicker.
My suggestion is that you contact us direct or complete the Call Me Back form and we will gladly call you back.

“Lack of transparency from halo has proven expensive”

I was VERY unhappy with the service at Halo and the lack of transparency around the information about costs/fees. I REPEATEDLY asked about commission/fees and how it worked and I was not given the information. I tried to clarify a number of times and was not given the correct information - it was very vague and left me with the impression that Halo made their money within the mid market trade (thus securing me the mid market rate). I made quite a big financial decision based on securing a particular rate, not understanding that Halo would give me 1% less than this. I don't think the fee is unreasonable but it has cost me quite a lot of money not to trade at the time I expected and then another (small) fee to withdraw my funds again which I was also not informed of - just told to withdraw would "not be a problem". When I expressed my dis-satisfaction I was phoned by the advisor with a cheerful "are you happy now". I said no I was not happy, but at least I understood now and he replied "that's great you're happy" or something similar. It was pretty rude and dismissive. I have gone elsewhere now, but the experience has been an expensive one as I've not had the funds I expected when I needed them. I believe I tried pretty hard to clarify things - it's my first trade ever and I didn't know the score but I think my direct answers should have been answered directly.

Used Halo to send money out of the uk and to bring it in both were large lump sums. Both times had excellent recommendations from the team on when to convert. We also used their monthly direct deposit service which was a huge help. Halo always want the best for the client which is refreshing and i highly recommend them. great people great service.

“Most efficient ”

Having used Halo three or four times so far to transfer funds from UK to USA whilst emigrating, I found they were helpful, friendly and professional ( with a sense of humor). I wish that UK Gov and RBS used them to move my Pensions and they would arrive more on time and with a better exchange rate.I always recommend them to all I meet who need to move money (legally).

Spoke to a guy called [name removed] , he took me through the process and explained all the details. He was helpful and polite. I received information in the post shortly after and then transferred money with no problems a few days later. I also got a much better rate than the bank and I got the added bonus that I could play the market and leave the money with them so I could achieve even more pounds for my dollars. Very happy and I can't fault the service. Thank you Halo Financial...and I certainly will not be going back to the banks for money transfers!

Well, I have to say they were rubbish. The customer service leading up to the transfer of funds was poor. In fact at times they were just rude. Their reactions were surprising and made me suspicious. When I questioned how the transfer would work the guy dealing with me would be oddly defensive. What was really annoying, additional money was taken from my transferred funds without any prior explanation, on top of all the international transaction fees. Thankfully it was not a large amount. Apparently this is normal, but no thanks to Halo, who continue to act defensively and 'pass the buck'. I would not use them again and will be contacted the Financial Ombudsman. My advice would be to research you transaction thoroughly. To get the best deal, try and avoid intermediary banking fees and find out who deals with your bank directly; if possible avoid Halo.

“Great Service, Great Rate”

I was knew to the currency markets and a friend had recommended Halo. Though initially I wasn't sure it would make a big difference, when I compared it to what the bank rate I was shocked. My hand was held by Michael Hart one of the consultants, and I would use them again. Thoroughly recommend.
