We use 3 Caxton prepaid cards, a US Dollar card, a Euro card and a Sterling card for the rest of the world. They can be preloaded and then topped up online or by text on the go so we don't have to make precise budgets or exchange a lot of cash in advance. It allows payments in local currencies at good exchange rates with no commissions on cash withdrawals (except in US as all banks charge for cash - the trick here is to buy something from a supermarket and get cash at the same time). We also use Fastpay, a fantastic online service for all our payments as we have a property abroad. It is quick, easy to set up and again no hidden bank commissions deducted in the transaction. Great service from Caxton which I have recommended to many friends.
