I applied for contents insurance with this company in December 2012. It is alleged that I made a mistake in my initial application. I noticed that the details weren't correct when they sent me the written copy of the policy. As it was in the 14 days 'cooling off' period I rang them to explain the error and to ask them to correct it. They rang me an hour later to say that because of the hangers that we're required they could no longer offer me this policy and so I would have to cancel - and charge me an £85 fee! After many email and telephone conversations they refused to reduce the amount.
I asked the Ombudsman to intervene and Deeside have now refunded me £45. Don't put up with astronomical admin charges or poor service from this terribly unprofessional company. Take action.
