“This book MADE me think”

★★★★★

written by YandelGlass on 21/01/2017

What a pleasure to find a book like AMERICAN POLITICAL FICTIONS. I am just a regular reader and do not normally like to read or even think about politics but this book MADE me think, probably because it did it with humour. It was so great to read something that was not boring. I loved the way it was written, and it is intense and there are facts and figures on every page but it is written in the way to be enjoyable and i really appreciate that. The subtitle "War on Errorism" is a nice summary of the author’s attitude to many different varieties of American political fictions, from novels to the unending strong if lies that streams out of Washington, highlighting the politics problems arise in today United States. I learned a lot about the American literature, culture and history and i learned it in the most painless way. Thumbs up!

American Political Fictions is a rather remarkable predictor of the state of American society, its culture and its politics. It tells you how and why the recent presidential election went the way it did, and it did it a year before anyone even took Trump seriously. The author is not Nostradamus, he does not tell you the details of future history but the big picture, the machinations, and the politicking is all there. I especially liked the last part of the book which compares the American electoral system with the Swiss direct democracy (Americans have something similar in California but how similar or rather how dissimilar i learned only from this book). How much many Americans would wish their President to be like that in the “West Wing”, a political television series discussed in detail in the last chapter. What kind of government do the majority of citizens want? No matter if you’re a Democrate or Republican or just fed up with politics, this book tells you more than you’d ever think is possible about American politics and how it is expressed through writing, song, TV, media… The American government will only hear the voices from the parties who can give them benefits and powers. What is the real American dream? Why is American democracy a fake? Read American Political Fictions.
