Absolutely fantastic car! Great handling, looks amazing and drives faultlessly. My Mondeo is now 16 years old and just flew through another MOT, only needed a tyre. Has always been 100% reliable, does everything and more asked of it. I love my Mondeo. Looks and handles better than new BMW's and Audi's. Looks great, roomy, very comfortable, practical and totally reliable.

Hi i had ford Mondeo zetech for over 3 years I don't remember that I didn't visit a garage every month my. Car had a problem which ford itself didn't know what was wrong with it. Not a good choice but as it's cheap that's why I Guess people like it.Major problem with fuel injectors and ECU not happy at all

I like the overall design of the vehicle. I have three children and a dog and the boot provides ample space for the dog as well as reasonable amount of luggage. The rear seats fit comfortably three child seats each having adequate leg room. The front is well thought out. Everything needed by the driver is close to hand and easy to find. All controls are logically thought out and easy to use, the driving position is adjustable to almost anyones needs. I do find however that the stereo's volume control can easily be knocked by the front passenger and another grind is the lack of cup holders in the front. Otherwise Ford Mondeo 2.0 Zetec is an attractive family car.

Ford reliability, cheap to buy. The Mondeo goes from strength to strength, improved at each revamp. Practical and roomy, 1600 slow, 2 litre upwards are punchy engines, well equiped, the mondeo has been a success from day 1. Best of all, chassis is brilliant, a real drivers car, out handles cars costing 3 times the price, excellent car

The Ford Mondeo is such a rewarding car to drive. It's very stylish interior is a pleasure to sit in and is very well made. It out handles anything in it's class plus other cars that are supossed to be above it. (It went round top gears test track 2 seconds quicker than a BMW 320i and 5 seconds quicker that the rest of the cars this size)
It has a huge boot, I do a lot of DIY and you can get 3 Meter packs of coving etc in and shut the boot.
I have had a few thing go wrong like the suspension and belt tensioner giving up also leak in boot but this has not put me off. This is such a great car.

This Ford Mondeo 2.0l Zetec is a fine practical family car, with excellent room and comfort for the longer drive. The bootspace of the hatchback is cavernous, easily accomodating a family of 6's weekly grocery, and rear legroom must be class leading for a 2.0.
However, (hard to find the perfect car), the vehicle is no sports car, so those looking for an engine that matches the cars handling prowess should look to the V6 or another manufacturer. Actually, the handling on the car needs to be praised. This is not a small 2.0 vehicle but the way it goes around corners yet provides a smooth compliant ride on the motorway, was a real bonus. These comments are not unjustified, as my previous vehicle, a 3-series BMW, was a better ride, but not significantly.
Ther biggest bug-bear from my perspective is the lack of power and the light switch. The former issue exacerbated by the relatively unsophisticated auto transmission, the latter by the design of the switch. I dont know why Ford didn't put a decent microprocessor controlled transmission in the vehicle, but it always needs user input when ovetaking and going up and down hills.
As to the light switch - well, the 2001 model is not intuitive. It allows the user to turn the switch fully anti-clockwise to what one would expect to be a "normal" off position, when in fact the switch is in "park" mode. There is no audible indicator that this is the case, so you are consequently encouraged to leave the lights on! Something I have done on several occaisions.
AS a final comment, I'd say, these points aside, I have no regretts purchasing the vehicle other than the lack of power. I'll be looking at the V6 next time.

Good allround family car, plenty space and adjustments for driver, drive-all-day comfort. I wouldn't buy another saloon, hatch back or estate are better, I'd probably go for the Diesel version for fuel economy. You won't go far wrong with one of these.

The Ford Mondeo 2.0l Zetec is a great car, it knocks the vectra for six in my opinion, bigger, more comfortable and at least it goes round corners.
Have had no reliability issues at all which given its 35k p.a mileage is a good indicator for durability. Duratec engine may not be the sweetest on the market but it is eager to perform.
Long distance comfort excellent.
Some minor trim is a little untidy but then the newer facelifted model has addressed this.
Class leader? I think so.

Look in "what car" magazine, the Mondeo always gets a good review, very good car for room, performance, looks. Overall the car is up there competing with the likes of VW Passat, Audi A4, Vauxhall Vectra. The car is not to be underestimated performance wise, 0-60mph in around 9.6 seconds. not bad for a big car. Great for the family too. TOP CHOICE.
