We booked an afternoon tea at the Park Lane Hotel. Even though we were telephoning on the day the staff member with whom we dealt was very respectful and helpful and put the time of our reservation back half an hour beyond their set time to accommodate us. The staff were very polite and they gave a very high level of service at all times. The tea room was spread out beautifully with a lot of room between tables. The decor is a combination of Chinoiserie and Art Deco. A harp was being played near us which was very pleasant. The food was delicious. My advise would be to avoid filling up too much on the second round of sandwiches that were offered to leave room for the delicious cakes. The staff were very careful to give no sense of wanting to hurry us to leave. I can only praise the standard of service throughout. Just a warning about the cost of parking. The nearby N C P carpark is quite a bit more expensive than the hotel's own car park which itself is not cheap. But then it is Mayfair. My guest used the toilets which he said were very impressive.
