After the treatment of my house mates and I by winkworth in new cross I decided to contact watchdog. it seems winkworth in new cross use one company for all there maintenance of the properties they deal with so can basically charge whatever they want, so despite paying for a professional cleaning company ourselves on leaving the house they took £150 off the deposit not including £180 for the garden that was so horribly over grown when we moved in that my attempts to clean it and attempts at asking for help from winkworth to help sort the garden to which they flatly refused but are now spending our money on to bring back to an acceptable level, not to mention a mice problem they refused to sort out for 6 months, leaking ceilings, rubbish left over from the previous tenants in the front garden they refused to move, letting people in to the house without giving us notice, not returning the deposit stating they've sent it first class even though we asked to pick it up by hand to which they said we couldn't it had to be delivered by post but 2 weeks later and at the time of writing this I still haven't received the deposit were owed. as first time renters we were treated horribly. but to me what seems fishy is the company winkworth subcontract to do all the maintenance work i actually asked them at the property what they thought the state of the house was like before they went in they stated it was really good didnt need alot doing to it so i contact the company by phone they stated for the amount of work needed it should cost between 50 and 100 but the we receive a £150 bill for it luckily i have recorded all conversations and film myself takiong to the cleaning crew. PLEASE DONT USE WINKWORTH.

We are currently renting with the Winkworth West End Office for a one-bedroom flat (an expensive, and frankly overpriced one at that), and since we decided not to renew our contract, they are now trying to "screw us over." Pardon the language, but I am fuming with the unprofessional and downright unethical way they are treating us.
After we signed the lease for the flat last year, they asked if we could move in a day later than the agreed upon move-in date, as the previous tenants were requesting for an extension. We agreed with the understanding that in return our move-out date would also be extended a day later than the one we previously agreed on. And now, they refuse to change our move-out date stating than we only told them that we would not renew the contract for the flat a MONTH and HALF before the lease ends, instead of TWO MONTHS. This is just the tip of the iceberg. The flat has a been a hellhole for the duration of our tenancy with everything from MOLDS, MICE, HEATING, and NOT HAVING THE PLACE PROFESSIONALLY CLEANED WHEN WE MOVED IN (the old tenant left it like an absolute pigsty). Our mistake was agreeing to a NO-BREAK CLAUSE (and no wonder they insisted on this). I WILL NEVER RENT OR BUY A PROPERTY WITH THEM EVER AGAIN! ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE! MOST UNETHICAL AND UNPROFESSIONAL!
