when we turned up at the first viewing of the property they hadn't told the then tenants we were coming. then, when we were going through the motions of wanting to rent the property, I got a call 3 days before moving in from the branch manager. he was very rude and said we may lose the property as we hadn't told him there was 4 of us moving into a 3 bed property (my boyfriend and I were sharing). I tried to explain this was not the case and that when I paid the holding deposit he had WRITTEN DOWN the names and occupations of all the people who were moving in. he then said he was not prepared to carry on the conversation, he just couldn't admit he was wrong.
when we moved in the previous tenants had left a box of rubbish and broken furniture in the garden. we asked if this could be removed and 10 months later its still there, they even tried to claim we left it there! we also had water leak through the ceiling, a major gas leak which meant re-routing all the pipes, the oven doesn't work and the washing machine is also broken. the property was listed as fully furnished yet when we moved in it looked like we'd been robbed, half the furniture had gone! when we reported a mouse infestation, they claimed it was our fault for being untidy and that there was never a problem before, despite us finding an old bait trap and one of the girls in the office admitting there had been a previous problem.
when they finally sent pest control round they didn't tell us they were coming and gave them a key to the property. when they let themselves in we were unaware and were asleep upstairs!
we have just over 1 month left of our tenancy so viewers are coming round quite often, we've had to start bolting the door because the agent never knocks even if he knows we are in, he just lets himself into the property. the worst agents I've ever used.
