“Lying rip off merchants”

Written on: 19/07/2012

My house was up for sale for 13500. I was offered 125000 on the first saturday of Febuary 2012, but told Connells the LOWEST was 130000. So they then came back with 129000. I told them NO. The agent then said he could possibly do something with the fee's they would be charging me, if I could hold he would find out for me. I was put on hold, then when he came back to the phone he said that my fee's were 2900, but he has been autherise to reduce them to 2500. He expalind that it was not the full 500 difference, but it was all they could reduce the fee's by. I agreed, and requested it in writing. He went on to say the buyer was a genuine guy who worked in an office in the same building as Connells, and he was even talking to Connells Mortgage adviser and the loan had been agreed in principle, so the sale would go through in a estimated 6 weeks.

The sale completed on 15 June 2012 - and the only time they ever contacted the buyer was when I asked them to! Febuary to June - 17 weeks in total.I was not even told when the branch manager (who was originally dealing with the sale of my house)relocated to a different branch!

When the solicitor sent me the bill, I saw that they had paid Connells 2900 + vat instead of 2500 + vat.

I contacted Connells over this.

Now the really funny thing is, nobody had any recollection of the conversation I had with the agent the day the buyer made the initial offer! They even went so far as to say that I 'thought I heard the agent say that he could, but in actual fact he said he would try but couldnt'. If that is the case the how could they then have no recollection of the conversation?

I feel extreemly angry over the poor service and the blarse attitude of Connells, Central Milton Keynes Office.
