“AVOID AT ALL COSTS”

As a local, i have visited this pub on many occasions, mostly before the current owners took over sadly. There is absolutely no atmosphere at this pub and the staff are rude and unfriendly (especially the owner), she barely cracks a smile, and normally completely ignores you when you walk in, although its a pub your not allowed to stand at the bar and have a drink, in fact they have removed all the bar stools now to prevent you from doing this, your only welcome here if you book a table and... “Christmas Eve Dinner”

A large party of friends booked dinner for our traditional Christmas Eve get-together and chose The Royal Oak at Stambridge. Very disappointed. No festive atmosphere whatsoever, no music, not even a cracker on the table. In fact, we seemed to be rather a nuisance and the staff couldn't wait to see us leave. While we were still finishing our meal, they were laying tables for Christmas lunch (with crackers). The food was passable but nothing to recommend. Won't be visiting this place again. (read more)
