ServerMx don't seem to be very well known, but after using them for a while I think they're excellent. It's a (very cheap) paid service and they don't provide domain names, so you need your own domain to bring along. There are free domains out there to get hold of if you like (e.g. cu.cc). They have a couple of open source web clients, which are good but not as jazzy as gmail, or you can use use pop/imap access from other clients. Spam filter is good. I've opened a couple of support tickets and the response has been fast and intelligent. I moved from a legacy FastMail member account which only had 16Mb of storage, so the 1Gb I get on ServerMx is more than enough. I could always pay for more.
It's all just very competent and affordable, but maybe slightly more techy than your average consumer is looking for.

Thanks Mr Spigot for the tip , servermx has been a nice surprise for my needs too.
What is more is that the now provide email service even if you don't have you own domain. They are very prompt to support and give information also via they facebook page (till a couple of week ago there was some summer offers available only from FB , but i'm not aware whether or not are still valid). The ping it's excelent but the features that I appreciate more are : Spam filter and the caldav support .
