Before checking out this website i read `WHICH Magazine` for best rated compnaies ,they have over 5 years worth of BEST SUPPLIER .

Dealing with the London office is great and fast .[UK BASED] .

I now have 1 bill per month for my gas/elec/phone/internet/and mobile ,which means 1 DD per month easy.

They have a unique cash back card which allows us to reduce our bills monthly by spending as we normally do at most high street shops where we receive on average 5% rebate off my utility bill monthly ,this reduces the bill by about 20% per month .

The price guarantee is simple over a 12 month period they will be the lowest UK price or double difference back .

Broadband is excellent and phone service great i receive free calls 24/7 apart from premium lines ,and also free calls to over 12 oversee countries .

Mobile service is the lowest cost in the UK AND THE BEST COVERAGE as well being able to change tariffs when i want no penalties .

Gas & Electric what can i say works and good cost .

they say all this but never deliver, its all to much messing about and only a few people are lucky if all goes to plan, and as you can read its not many!!!!!!!!

looking at the above link as recommend by Calpga12, the reference of 96% of 66,000 customers recommend UW, do not tally up

so here goes

Utility Warehouse offer 4 services (well 5)*

Elec
Gas
Phone/broadband * (sort of the same)
mobile phone

the Which website (as per there table notes) indicate that they surveyed Utility Warehouse and the amount of UW customers surveyed were 243 at the time of a total of approx 8000. or around 3% not 96%

Looking at averages of 5 services approx 48 (on average were a customer of one service). many people on this review site refer to one service (possibly 2) (100 people i rounded up) each service been 20%

Therefore the numbers they are quoting are wildly out of sync and do not represent the total number of customers UW have (they claim) are 37000-400000 (of which 66,000 were surveyed

Based on the survey of 243 people, this is 0.065% (just over 1/2 of one percent) of the company claim to be satisfied, not the 96% as shown above

I suppose as they've mentioned 5 years as a sample for data source, its likely they have multiplied their total over 5 years after doing their additions to come up with this lubricious number

and finally look at how its written, there is "WE" then "MY" (WE normally and off MY utility) line 6 and line 7.

They also claim to receive FREE calls, that is included already in your line rental?

They also say they have the best mobile phone coverage (they use T mobile as a provider) who have just merged with Orange (not known for been in the top two) out of the 5 network providers.

This is obviously written by an employee who works in head office and not a true run of the mill customer

Any why do they use EBAY to advertise, yes they can say it’s a clever way of getting attention, but its free advertising, which tells me the company is tighter than a industrial strength glued shut wallet.

i think the point is, anyone can manipulate numbers, you appear to mix your company survey results with that of Which!

I can build a website and manipulate the results in my favour, and as a point of reference, for every 5 negative responses, a perfect score is had!! Not an adequate or they are no better or no worse than others, its 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 score across the board.

I also record my conversations with UW customer care, and once the dust settles, you may hear via youtube HOW YOU really do deal with customers past present or future

I found this discussion interesting but could not understand it. So having checked it seems that Areviewer2012 has got the surveys mixed up. The 96% seems to be one survey and the Which? magazine another survey carried out by Which?

correct there are two survey results which have been mixed up by utility warehouse, "which" have there own figures of 243 UW customers surveyed. UW claim its 66000 which is a big difference when you compare them

UW are twisting the facts "ever so slightly"

this thread is for electricity supply or service and not phone or broadband service, so even you (Calpga12) are now misleading the facts with us here on this forum/review by using (if true) a totally different set of results from UW customer sanctification results.

I would also like to refer the two reviewers based on some of there comments on other posts (within the last day or two) show me they WORK for Utility Warehouse and are not your average day to day normal users of their service.

Please also note, Calpga12 keeps asking me to join and find out the benefits, instead of giving me facts and numbers, and fails miserably on offering anything factual other than that of a fairy tale story line "come and join us to find out"

Calpga12 and Litesp33D give me facts and figures please on what i can save BASED on a scenario, i dont want a percentage of what i could or may benefit from

I have used the price comparision websites and you have so far rated a saving of approx 34 pounds a year on a combined gas and electric bill (putting UW 94th) where as other companies claim to offer 237 pounds of savings i used uswitch.com

so please offer facts, numbers and reality, fairy tales are for children

1. Uswitch web site rates you approx 54th as good value

2. "96% OF 66,000 CUSTOMERS RECOMMEND UW " what does this actually mean (that around 3300 were unhappy)

3. Which magazine (whom you refer to) cannot verify the numbers as the process used by UW, to sell services (offers 5 different) services with different incentive schemes of which approx 37,777 give or take a few thousand are customer/re sellers (nearly 60% of your so called survey results)

4. I have yet to see a comment that is not scripted and tells me to join to FIND OUT!!

5. I myself inherited a UW account, which i did not want.. I informed your company of this, which they CHOOSE to ignore.

6. when i formalized my issues with them, they turned the tables and told me the debts from the previous person (needed to be confirmed) but all debt collection issues relating to this account where NOW my issue!!!

7. YOUR staff at UW are hostile aggressive and threatening when you dont follow there advice or solution (which still meant me paying debt and court costs for the previous account holder)

8. Never in any of our conversations did you offer me any service or benefits when i told your company i did not want any services

9. they lie about situations trying to frighten people into becoming your customer

10. your shallow attempt at humor was that to be expected of an unprofessional company

11. you have never offered anything no biased, other than your own opinion or offered any balanced opinion other than that of your own.

15. people who complain are very specific about their issues, you and your chums appear to be writing from a script or don't compare events to your own experiences

and finally

I have never been exposed to so much tish tosh in my entire life when it comes to your company. i have used other companies in the past (the big ones, British Gas, EDF, Scottish power, and SSE etc) yes you pay a little bit extra but when mistakes have been made, they have been helpful and also fixed issues

as your a re seller and not a supplier i feel more so from your companies threats and your childish observations (lacking fact and foundation)


now i suggest you put up some facts and figures rather than the smoke and mirrors

After this last comment of a rather loud person i will join UW and push their services as i have total confidence in their products and believe the 3rd party comments rather than his looney thoughts.

Check them out ask the questions any problems you have please ask me i will help you sort them out even though i will earn nothing from them ..

I feel I must respond. I came to this site after a friend asked me who I used for my home services and I told him. He then said this site had some negative comments so I came to look. The negative comments were not my personal experience. They seemed to be coming from one or two people who gave the impression of having an axe to grind that seemed disproprtionate to the issues concerned. Almost malicious. The kind of thing you might see from a disgruntled ex employee or similar. Consequently I thought I might try to give my understanding of my experience to help other users of this review site. Such a hornets nest reaction suggests I might have fed a troll that has made a career of dissing this company.

Personally I don't care who you use. There are many companies to choose from. What I don't understand is people who say 'I have been using this company for a year and they are terrible just to run down that supplier' Why not change? It only takes about a month.

The other thing I do not understand is what normal person rattles off every energy provider in the country "i have used other companies in the past (the big ones, British Gas, EDF, Scottish power, and SSE" and cannot find one they are happy with. How can one normal person change suppliers that often in a lifetime? I cannot agree, having used 2 from this list, that they sort out issues promptly. And one look from reviews of those companies on this site will show that.

your attempt at avoiding the questions are some what labored and weak.

your advertising (with French and Saunders offers No factual information other than what they claim or reference to within the Which magazine) zero factual data

Calpga12, you are a challenge this is because you have YET to provide any information other than misleading data based on various sources mixed together and then refer ed too?

again i shall point out the following

1.66,000 customers recommend UW of which nearly 38,000 are re seller and existing customers ( anyone who has a job today will say and do anything to keep it) or massage the facts to get more business. (60% of your employee base or resellers)

2. UW have approx 380,000 so UW claim 96% of customers recommend UW whereas my maths is 17% of the total of 380,000 (assuming 66,000) are the customers who would recommend UW (not all of these have taken the full 5 services, or parts there of) so any data collected by them would not reflect the true level of service

3. Calpga12 (that is you) have not introduced a fact or shred of evidence that UW is better than anyone else

4. I myself have had poor communication with UW, in fact when I tried to sort the issues out (i had inherited) someone elses account, UW did not attempt in any shape of form to transfer me

5. UW have tried to pass some of the previous persons account debt onto me!

6. debt collects came to the house for the previous account holder, and UW claim they came because of my account. and tried to pass all costs off against me

7. when i would not dance to UW song, they threatened me again with various laws and regulations

8. Calpga12, still has yet to prove anything factual (as do the other 5 star posters) that is not scripted or overly perfect. 90% of this thread is about the negative support/care/consideration and hassel. some of it is not UW fault, BUT my experiences with other companies they work with you, not against you.

9. I have never in my 4-5 months of battling UW ever received an information package, price plan, schedule of services and benefits etc

10. and this made me smile, when a collections or debt collector came to the door, he was equally stunned he was been dragged into this issue as it was beyond his remit, secondly he made no attempt to sell, transfer any services to me (he was embarrassed) and the chaos


so please either put up or shut!

To help answer your question (I wasn't born yesterday, in fact it was a very long time ago)
secondly I have lived around the UK over my years (through work and relocation's) (I rent a lot) and because of this i have change many suppliers with no issue what so ever, Until i came across UW whom I never heard of until a few months ago.

as much as i can i have tried to support my statements with facts, references and numbers

You and calpga12, have yet to prove anything factual to date other than an opinion.

Today I am free of UW, which has taken me 3-4 months because they did not want to loose a customer and put everything, tricks, ignorance or some pretense they did not receive the communications.

I am happy to pay a little bit extra knowing I am going to get the service and support they say.

so please contribute with some facts and figures rather than "they are good" or "give us a try", "I have had no problem with them" as some of the posts are quite factual and one or two shall we say have had a problem through their own ignorance.

But saying that some of the re sellers can be bullies if their commission is based on people who they have introduced to the company. so maybe the re sellers are actually at fault, and not so much the company.

i shall explain

1. i was not born yesterday, and have been around on this mighty planet for many a decade

2. I work around the UK and the world normally on short term contracts 6-12 months (therefore i rent property)

3. as per number two I also inherit normally utility companies from the property i rent or share, and gained experience of the various suppliers

4. resorting to calling me a troll, is the argument lost, as where possible i have put together facts favorable and not favorable (i suggest you look the word up yourself) as I think you also fall into this category)

5. many people have issues relevant or not, BUT paint a picture of their experience, which normally means they are worse of financially, that is many big companies watch out for their customers and help them and don't forget to communicate with them

6. I have not seen any comments or reviews there are helpful to this thread or to any of the customers, that is guide or advise them... one person left a comment yesterday which (from lowcostpreston) were fair and balance

7. any company offering great deals or unbelievable deals, normally come with hidden catch's.. UW do have these, and you do have to keep within tight guidelines to benefit from them, many people are sold these deals who cannot keep within them for various reason

8. NOW post some facts, other than one response that you have shown 5 people a brouchure or something similiar about the company see below

from Uswitch (in first place) (I said my supplier was british gas)

1. iSave Fixed v3 from First Utility...saving me £151 per year

and UW did not come up on a result

I said UW were my supplier and i got this

1. iSave Fixed v3 from First Utility.... saving me £300 pounds year

their is small print which may penalize you but it does say that with first utility

this is not TROLLING this is fact after fact

so try and go to USwitch, an independent source and see what they say, you may not be as cheap as you claim

Re last comment of course they are from the company and Which magazine as they are facts AND FACTS ARE TRUE not JUST TALK .

I am and have been a customer for over 12 months and they do what they say and are great value and excellent service , not sure what else i can say .

The adverts on TV from British Gas say they are the cheapest of the bog 6 in small print at the bottom does that tell you something .

7 days have now elapsed since I handed everything back over, and now have a new supplier (s) and yet they refuse to acknowledge this has happened.

my new supplier has already started to communicate with me, and still i wait with baited anticipation of what Nonsense UW push through my door as a final bill (s)

I just thought I would give an update nearly 2 months since i left UW, and still they persist in chasing me for penalties which are for the previous tenant..(but made out to me)

all my bills or energy used during the chaos were paid, that is whilst the account was still tied to the rented property, however and still, the threatening letters come, (with a %) added for each communication sent for none payment .

This for me at least is now out of my hands and is in the hands of others...

and I have just noticed on Calpgas12 last 2 comments where one indicates they have been with the company 12 months and the second response indicates they are fun and positive and they have joined??? something fishy with that statement

As many Months have passed since calpga12 started their inaccurate factually flawed propaganda, they have still not answered or offered up any facts, figures or reference material to why Utility Warehouse is or could be the best company to switch too!!

The fact is as usual there are no valid or plausible reason too

However I get to even better news, the Ombudsman has reviewed my case and based on the facts and evidence (I repeat) based on facts and evidence presented by myself, that they have upheld my dispute against Utility warehouse.

Utility warehouse of course disagree with the findings and I can now only assume I will be seeking further advice for the next stage.

Again all I can say is, communicate with UW where and possible with traceable communications (email) never talk to them (it’s easy to deny the conversation) never accept anything from them unless its in writing.

Read the contract before you sign up to anything, if there is doubt (listen to your instincts) before you commit to anything.

Where possible try and pay what you can when you can.
If they take money from you and don’t pay it back, give them notice if they don’t return your money, interest will be charged and then legal and proper proceedings will follow for overdue monies as well as interest and any legal costs (bailiff and court).

Make sure you account for everything; it’s a bit cumbersome but really is worth it when dealing with companies like this.
