“Excellent service! - why so many poor reviews?”

I transferred to OVO in May 2015 and have experienced no problems at all. Their website is simple to understand and includes everything that I need. Telephone support is excellent (I have had only one query so far which was quickly answered and resolved). I have chosen to decline the installation of their smart meters due to my reservations on this new technology. “Ovo , complete waste of time, useless”

“Beware Ovo”

I initially switched to Ovo because of a competitive quote. As with other companies they failed to offer the best deal at renewal time. No difference to most other companies there . So I switched to a better deal with another company at renewal time. I switched February 24th 2015. “1 star is too many for Ovo”

We were with Ovo for 2 years. In that time I submitted 2 meter readings aside from the initial one (handled by my landlord) and the final one (submitted by me). I checked the account fairly regularly and watched the account's Credit slowly go up. After we had moved out of the property we received a nasty final bill for around £2,500. “Realy Bad”

1) They have a landline number that connects to a waste disposal firm 2) They have no internal phone system and have to run up and down the stairs for the correct department. 3)They fail to show for appointments 4)They fail to call you back 5) When asked for the energy Ombudsman number they didn't know it They provide cheap energy but also provide cheap service. “Stay Stay Away!”

I had been with OVO since 2007 and all was good until the last few years. Their prices shot up quckly (high supply charges too)and very confusing billing. Decided to leave them for a much better deal and I am in the process of that. The last bill I received was only for my Gas usage and after a few phone calls they emailed me a totally incorrect Electricy Bill for over £97!!! I only use £25-£40 in a month!!! Only one minor problem with billing while I was with them but the problems really started after leaving them. Absolutely awful admin and customer service. Took money without permission to cover future bills after I'd left them, and then billed me for energy used 3 months after leaving them, energy that I had already paid my new supplier for. I've had a terrible time with OVO. They were cheap when I first started with them but have sneaked up their prices. They say the direct debit will be £154 ( which you agree on the site ) and they confirm - but then take £250 ! Signed up for Ovo through a comparison site, providing all the information asked for. A few days later, I received a mysterious email saying they "seemed to" have the wrong bank details for me (but didn't explain why). I emailed back with no response and tried to call three times with no answer within a reasonable time. Ovo are great until you have a problem. I've had two problems. If there is a problem their customer service is awful. Every phone call or email results in having to restate the issue. I'm not sure how they record information, but it's as if they have no record of any prior communication. I really liked OVO, and they are great when everything is going OK. Each year at the end of my fixed term I look for a better deal with energy suppliers. OVO were offering a really good deal for dual tariff at £126.00 (Feb 2013). After 6 months I received an email stating that my bills were to be increased to £186.00 a month! I complained about this stating that I was a on FIXED TERM agreed contract and how they had reached this conclusion that my energy consumption had increased to £60.00 a month (bearing in mind this was in the Summer). I took these jokers on because they quoted me what worked out at about £58 a month fixed for dual fuel, which they charged me for the first few months and then put it up to £131!! because they "made a mistake" ("Oooops! “Poor Customer Service!”

Ovo were a cheap supplier so I moved there been there a few years back. They consciously overcharge customers so you end up in credit for which they pay the customer interest. My payments mounted up to the point where I was £400+ in credit and I asked for a refund, they refused to refund me all and stated that I had to be two months in credit? They sent me a refund and over the next year quickly ended up again £480 in credit. I switched suppliers and they have so far taken 8 weeks to process… Read Full Review

Further to my review, Ovo complaints have responded and have agreed to refund my money within 24 hours? Should you have an issue with Ovo fill in the complaints form on their website. I was contacted twice within 12 hours and my problem was resolved, well done!

“Overcharging and mis-leading”

No escalation process for complaints. Either put up or shut up - or go through the lengthy process of contacting OFGEM. What could be resolved in two minutes generally takes two hours. Missing paperwork, no apologies and rude staff all add up to a very poor experience. Check the OVO annual complaints report - the majority cannot be resolved immediately or within 24 hours. I had the exact same problem. The Ombudsman Services will not take on a complaint with an energy company unless the complaint has reached a "deadlock". I tried to explain to Ombudsman Services that it was impossible to reach "deadlock" with OVO because (as you pointed out) they don't have an escalation process, in fact they don't have any kind of structured complaints process in place whatsoever. I gave up with Ombudsman Services in the end but a bad review on this website soon got OVO sorted out. Oh, you're right about another thing, they do overcharge too.

The switch over has been dreadful and numerous phone calls. Now in dispute over a nearly £3000 bill for gas . Now having to send pictures of Meter and have to send again as it has been implied that I have had the Meter changed. I decided in December 2014 to look around for a new deal on my electric. It was after this the problems started, trying to get a final bill proved to be one step too far for ovo. I too am still awaiting a final bill, 3 months after leaving. 6 weeks ago I gave them the 8 weeks notice required by the ombudsman, not long to go now.

Wow cannot believe the neg views about OVO on here because having been with awful companies like NPOWER and eon in the past OVO are in a different league. Where did you get this £350 figure? If that's what OVO told you then you're a little naïve for believing them. With Ecotricity I was paying around £1.40 a day on my electric, with OVO it was more like £2.50. I'm sure you'll find out what OVO are like soon enough.
