I have switched over to OVO and also my 2 friends, we have all noticed that we are topping up more then are last supplier, my friend was away for a week and no electric/gas was being used in property and when she came home she had to top up again. My other friend has experienced the same thing we are all considering changing over very soon, I have only been on OVO for a month and my friend has too I have never had to put this much money on even in the winter. I have had no problems with Ovo after the initial transition from a very poor energy company, the coop energy. the Ovo team were prompt to address concerns and have had no problems at all with billing, online management, and have been able to reduce my direct debit to reduce the surplus created from initial estimate direct debit. very happy with Ovo and plan to stay… Read Full Review

i had a letter arrive at my home address from some spurious collection agency saying they had traced me through credit reference agency( lie ) the amount owed £19.47. I own another property which i rent out it turns out the previous tenants had switched to them. “Do Not Switch to OVO”

I have had non stop problems with OVO. IT has been one nightmare after another. Whatever you do DO NOT switch to them. You will regret it. Today OVO Energy sent their collections contractor to my house to request payment for an outstanding bill. (I cancelled my direct debit after they abused my trust taking money /that I did not owe.) “Account Management Diabolical”

I left the UK early 2013 and rented out my property through agents. On closing OVO account I received written confirmation account was fully paid up and closed. 18 months later I received a bill for consumption over a 3 month period mid 2014. Many calls to OVO from me and my agent that I do not have an account or lived in property since 2013, and repeated promises OVO would sort, were in vain. well I've never dealt with such an unprofessional company in my life. I have a Buy to Let property, and unfortunately the letting agent swapped the energy supplier to the dreaded OVO. That is where it all went wrong. OVO decided to charge me a 'fee' for energy when the property was unoccupied, not a problem they all do that. so I paid the bill within the requested time, and low and behold I have debt collectors demanding I hadn't paid the said bill. “Lazy, incompetent customer service”

The title says it all. This is the worst energy company I've experienced. I don't care whether or not their prices are cheaper than competitors when you spend hours on phone calls and emails trying unsuccessfully to resolve a simple issue. In this case I submitted my final meter readings when I vacated a property but was issued an estimated bill which was far higher than the actual consumption. “Worse than Vodafone!”

Don't ever switch to OVO Energy, they are worse than Vodafone's customer service! Had our dual fuel with them. Went to switch which the electricity went smoothly but 8 months later and constant chasing, our gas finally switched. OVO have since been taking our direct debit despite us not being a customer and now they have £957 of our money! I consider that i was persuaded to switch to Ovo on the basis of misleading advertising. I switched to Ovo specifically because of the online top-up facility for pay as you go customers. When the time came to install the smart meter which facilitates this, i was then informed that my electricity meter is too high from the ground and that this will cost at least £79 to rectify. Joined OVO three months ago and provided my meter readings for gas and electricity. Although the electricity reading was sent through to my previous supplier OVO failed to send the reading for gas. I was in considerable credit with my previous supplier, Atlantic, and quickly received a refund for electricity. When asked why the gas reading wasn't sent across OVO told me they wanted to see three months reading to check the figures were accurate. Me and my partner where switched to the company even though we never agreed the prices you have to pay are appalling me and my partner have to top up our card £35 a week sometimes even more and we only live in a 2 bedroomed flat and are on benefits. When our son was in hospital for a week there was nothing being used and still a £20 top up whent , the staff are rude on the phone and I spoke to a manager and he said he will refund us our money and we are still waiting. I switched to OVO in May 2015 after reading Martin's Money Tips and received my welcome email quite soon after the switch. I was unable to book an engineer to fit the smartmeter online so ended up having to call customer services. After over 30 minutes waiting on the line they told me that they hadn't an available appointment to fit the new meter but would get back to me as soon as they had an engineer available. I received a leaflet in the post recommending I switch to Ovo energy. Sounded interesting as they "do not charge exit fees". So I went onto their website and "got a quote". I should add that most energy comparison sites mislead you about savings - they will always note your current tariff then look forward to when it ends then compare their tariff to your current suppliers "standard" tariff and give you some wonderful savings - completely artificial and misleading. can't understand all the bad reviews?! I've been with them 3 years now and about to renew - never a problem.
