“Hassle After Hassle”

OVO were the supplier to the property when I moved in. Having installed Smart Meters a week ago they are now forcing PAYG (at a higher tariff) on me weather I like it or not. I topped-up £20 at Pay-Point, no sign of the £20 in my online account and they continued to send emails threatening to cut me off. Have spent about an hour in all listening to silly music on the phone waiting to get things resolved. A sbsolute joke, can't wait to get rid of them ASAP. “Good start, but later let down”

Based on positive experience with OVO on my domestic supply, I went ahead and signed up my business as well. BIG MISTAKE. After about a year - and only a few days after I had renewed with OVO for another 2 years - without telling me in advance, OVO transferred the business supply to another supplier. The transfer was handled appallingly - OVO sent me an email on the day of the transfer, when it was too late to do anything about it. the first month was great I thought I was saving but then it kept going up and up... OVO said that £65 usage in just 8 days was normal for a single man. so I went on holiday turning all the power and gas off by the mains. I got back to find I had been charged £62 for 10 days. I asked how this was possible and told theirs nothing they can do. So angry and frustrated Sleeping in the dark with my kids as i had a meter failure on the property and they refuse ti send an engerer as they waster my time during the day and said i can not book an engeneer after 5 on sunday I would now spend 24 hours at least without electricity!!! “increase in direct debit payment without notification”

I was paying £100 pm for my gas and electricity by direct debit.3 months ago, OVO increased my amount to £270 without warning so I incurred bank overdraft charges. I rang them and they said it was because the direct debit amount did not cover the usage (estimated). I thought it was a one off excess payment. However the following month they again took £270 so I incurred more bank charges. I rang again and they explained that that was the new monthly payment so I gave them readings. Where do I start.......! I inherited a meter from this company when I moved in and really wished I had ditched them to start with!! Problems from the start, very difficult to get through to them, very little contact info on their site. Hmmmm. Scottish Power, REALLY? I smell a rat here to be honest,. I have moved from SP to Ovo due to horrendous problems with SP. If you read reviews on TrustPilot about SP, you will find some very illuminating comments about that company. I have moved to OVO on recommendation from a friend; and, although it is too early to comment about their service -- frankly anything compared to SP has to be better in my experience. I find this review of OVO very strange indeed.

I have been with OVO for over three years & found them cheaper than other suppliers, I changed supplier after reading glowing reports from Martin Lewis & Which whom I trust more than some of the reviewers here. Is it possible that the bad reviews come from employees of other suppliers? Have always found their customer helpline friendly & efficient. “Unable to give comprehensive quote”

After a year with OVO, trying to get to the bottom of a comprehensive set of figures on which the new quote was based seemed impossible. After nearly an hour on the phone even the assistant could not tell me exactly what usage figures the quote was based on and each time he gave me a different figure. Ovo is by far the worst company I have switched to! They've cost me nearly triple what I was paying before hand they never give me my full amount of energy when I top up my smart meter and I don't know why because I have no debt what so ever on them as when I switched I got vouchers from my old company with the money I had remaining on them, and not to mention iv only been with them 1 month iv had to go this whole 1-2 month without gas because they didn't send me a gas card to top up and when I… Read Full Review

“Say NO to Smart Meters”

I have been with OVO about two years and have had no problems. They encouraged me to have Smart Meters installed. In this area they use a firm called Trojan Utilities who were due to come today. Having stayed in specially it was very annoying to have OVO ring late on to say that they could not come and wanted to reschedule. I cancelled the installation. Trying to close our OVO account and get the money back owing to us has been protracted and drawn out - maybe not all OVO's fault as suppliers do have something to do with it, but I've found I've been the one constantly chasing trying to get our money refunded! They always have an excuse. Really not terribly impressed at all. Reason I left in the first place - we'd overpaid by hundreds of pounds and they wouldn't return it. The Big Six energy suppliers have a lot to learn from Ovo Evergy. We have switched from almost all the six providers and have ended up with Ovo. This is our third year with them and they have shown to provide the most (if not one of the most) competitive products, without the typical "introductory offers". Customer service is good for the times we needed to clarify things and they were one of the first to install smart meters for our home. “OVO slow with final bill and refund”

I have been with OVO for 2 years when their prices were competitive. Service started to go downhill when a Smart Meter was installed. OVO couldn't decide whether manual or direct meter readings were appropriate. In March my 2 years contract was up for renewal and I found that many suppliers were now cheaper. Rang OVO but they wouldn't budge on price. Switched with 17% saving on electricity to SO Energy. OFGEM requires the meter readings have to be sent to the previous energy provider by the new one they cant just click a button and get your final reads it is all regulated - its probably your new supplier holding them up

I have switched over to OVO and also my 2 friends, we have all noticed that we are topping up more then are last supplier, my friend was away for a week and no electric/gas was being used in property and when she came home she had to top up again. My other friend has experienced the same thing we are all considering changing over very soon, I have only been on OVO for a month and my friend has too I have never had to put this much money on even in the winter.
