Immoral greedy & bullying company!

I have had a long standing disagreement with Opus energy regarding alleged out of contract rates. I am still a paying customer. This morning I received a personal charging order in the sum of £8500. Yes over EIGHT THOUSAND POUNDS.

A couple of months ago I engaged a local solicitor to help as I didn't know how to deal with the arrogant, unhelpful litigation officer who when asked why they were wanting ridiculous out of contract costs advised because they could.

I am a small cafe, micro business using around £200.00 per month in electricity.

My solicitor has corresponded with Opus to ask questions yet without my knowledge opus have continued court proceedings that were unchallenged and culminated with a charge of £8500 on my family home. My partner and I are still in shock!

Opus energy where are your morals? I still have an account with you and pay what I consider to be the agreed tariff.

You haven't heard the last from me Opus I will be doing whatever it takes to warn other naive small businesses to stay clear of your unethical practices and to get this charge removed from my property.
















Why don't you Opus Energy stick to selling electricity instead of employing bullying litigation assistants to create money out of thin air. I cannot believe how many small business owners Opus Energy are doing this to.

Opus Energy, where are your morals and ethics in business? Any small business will tell you how easy it is to be sold into an energy contract over the phone, without having the opportunity to examine the terms and conditions. This surely can't be legally binding. I never ever signed one single document.

With hindsight, I would suggest to anyone that they take legal advice and ask for a recording of the telephone conversation or tape the conversation before agreeing to any form of energy contract. Perhaps even pay a solicitor to have the conversation for you. It may turn out to be the best way.

Why is the government not doing anything about this?? Given the number of serious complaints that are on the Internet.

I intent to appeal and fight this and will be turning to Twitter and informing my MP in attempt to shame Opus Energy into doing the right thing by reversing the charge and apologising.

I here that the BBC are keen to investigate this company, the sinner the better before more unsuspecting business's fall into the same trap.
