“THE ABSOLUTE WORST ENERGY SUPPLIER - PLEASE DO NOT...”

Written on: 29/04/2016 by BryannaMcGraw (1 review written)

This company has been an absolute nightmare from start to finish. Despite my phoning and requesting bills for over 2 years and then submitting numerous formal complaints because I hadn't received a bill still no bill was sent to me! During one of my many phone calls to them I was advised that something had gone wrong with their system and that they hadn't sent a bill out because it was for £10,000 - 'We live in 3 bed terrace property & had been paying a monthly direct debit throughout' so it… Read Full Review

“Terrible company please stay clear of them.”

Written on: 15/04/2016 by Gerrydee (1 review written)

Terrible company they trick you into a contract by offering low monthly direct debits, then hit you with big bills at the end of the year/contract. I paid by direct debit every month and never missed a payment. At the end of the year they hit me with a £280 bill and said if I paid my account would be clear, I paid it and a week later they hit me with another £300 bill. I am going to complain to the Energy Ombudsman as they have had over eight weeks to resolve my issues and they haven't… Read Full Review

“Shambles”

Written on: 15/04/2016 by Dayanara54 (1 review written)

I switched from COOP to another provider which left a balance of £140 in my account. Despite the COOP's final statement confirming that my money will be repaid 'within 14 days' I am still waiting for it 4 weeks later. Customer service are useless and just say that I have to wait for a cheque! No apology. No explanation. In the meantime they have my money… Read Full Review

“poor customer service”

Written on: 14/04/2016 by cnuttall (2 reviews written)

Cooperative energy were unable to manage economy 7 readings where they were continually transposing my readings, so my bills were always a lot higher than they should be. Even the call operators recognised the problem and would change it over. I jumped through hoops for them sending in readings, videos etc to show how my readings were being inputted wrongly after I had entered them correctly. However the problems escalated when the complaints supervisor disputed my readings. after a fruitless… Read Full Review

Having read a number of reviews of people in similar circumstances to me it is pitiful that the Coop aren't doing more to rectify THEIR MISTAKES.... and given the fact they review these pages judging by the useful flags showing their responses.. I am now hoping for a speedy resolution of this protacted and unnecessary saga. lol !!

alternatively I would like some help on my legal situation of how ~I can get reimbursed for the money for the money I have paid that I do not owe and also how to highlight in a more public way the level of incompetence present. I want to be compensated for the lack of care they have whilst I have been stressed up to the eyeballs trying to resolve this issue.

“Appaling billing; take too much on direct debit; do...”

Written on: 07/04/2016 by robinclark (1 review written)

My account accumulated a large amount of credit over 2015 and I spent many a lunch hour in their telephone queues trying to get the issue resolved, which appeared to be hampered by their IT systems refusal to enter gas readings; gas readings which I read directly from the meter and tried to submit many many times both by your web site and by ringing them (although this would nearly always fail due to my lunch hour only being one hour long – incredibly frustrating I have far far better things… Read Full Review

Expect to get no resolution whatsoever at the end of wasting your breath. Expect to be met with low intelligence sarcasm rather than a Customer CARE agent who genuinely helps you. “Apalling Service Obstructing Transfer to Another Supplier”

Written on: 06/04/2016 by Nataleel115 (1 review written)

Repeated long waits for calls to be answered at service centre. Co-op oblected to transfer to another company because they were owed a trivial amount £61 which thet had no billed me for. A week ago I paid the outstanding £61 and imagined the transfer would go ahead. Today I was told Coop Energy had objected again. When I contacted them I was told the reason was a bill was due at the END OF APRIL so they thought I might owe them money hence the objection. For some reason Coop Energy do not… Read Full Review

I Changed from cooperative energy after 3 very stressful years. Inaccurate bills always over estimated. It once took them a whole year to send my bill and this was after 60 phone calls all at my expence. So i finally changed suppliers in August 2015 having recieved another highly over estimated bill after numerous phone calls agian they finally agreed to reduce it by £20.00 but having never sent me a bill to confirm this no communication what so ever until i received notification from some debt… Read Full Review

“Huge mistake transferring supply”

Written on: 21/03/2016 by beast5 (4 reviews written)

Applied for a transfer from First Utility to Cooperative Energy. First I receive an email from Energylinx saying the transfer will take 17 days, 2 weeks cooling off followed by 3 days transfer time. Secondly I received my welcome letter confirming my cooling off period AFTER the period had ended and that my energy supply will actually take 5 weeks to transfer. Third i then received a pre payment card despite having a standard metre. Fourth my switch date came and went so I called up only to be… Read Full Review

“left 8 months ago billed today”

Written on: 16/03/2016 by jonny2225856 (1 review written)

I have had nothing but trouble with company. Bills are non existant, when you do receive correspondance they are asking for a ludicrous amount. I have been issued a reminder for £850 for a final bill I have never had, bearing in mind my energy supplier changed early August last year and had heard nothing for The 8 month interim. After spending all afternoon and evening on the phone, I finally get told that someone had incorrectly typed in the final reading which gave a discrepancy of £700… Read Full Review

“Can't wait to leave”

very poor customer service, when entering your own metre readings your bills are never corrected. They change amounts and credits on your account with no explanation, no reading metre readings show next to these altered amounts. Today out of the blue I received a letter threatening me with debt recovery agency, they have landed me £1000 bill I don't owe and even the staff can't make sense of it. They claim they have been trying to contact me even though this amount has only showed up on my… Read Full Review

I am also in the same position and I got a bill of £375 and I changed my supplier. I never see my bills in detail how much I spent on gas/electricity. Their billing system is awful and I am in the process of contacting Energy Ombudsman.

“Tried to switch, only to be told I owed £000's...”

Written on: 24/02/2016 by Tedman123 (1 review written)

I switched to Co-op Energy to get a better rate, they suggested a DD based on my usage, which was duly set up and all was fine. I would receive periodic emails saying my bill was available on line, try to look at it but the site just didn't work. Thinking that my DD was covering my usage I didn't fret, as I knew that energy companies are obliged to carry out regular DD reviews, and this would flag up a deficit? At the end of my contract I decided to go elsewhere, contacted a new supplier, and… Read Full Review

“Do not use”

Written on: 10/02/2016 by 171Self (1 review written)

Appalling customer service. I have tried for a year to get a correct final bill after repeatedly being issued one which is evidently wrong. The problem in theory is simple to sort. My case was accepted by the energy ombudsman and following their report the problem still continues. I have emailed again to co-op and have had no response in a week. Repeatedly I have had lengthily phone calls with advisors who assure they will sort out the issue and dont. They have failed to return calls as… Read Full Review

Brilliant...after submitting this review I get an email from Co-operative energy asking me to contact them to resolve the complaint (my email address to them is anonymous message received via review centre).....Yet they still haven't so much as even acknowledged the two emails I have sent them in the last 10 days, which highlight my disgust at the handling of my account. TOTAL SHAMBLES. Members of my family are currently switching their energy supply and have dismissed this dreadful company based on my experiences, despite them offering the cheapest deal.

“I WOULD NOT RECOMEND CO-OP ENERGY TO AN ENEMY”

Written on: 09/01/2016 by noznoznoz (1 review written)

The co-operative movement is close to my heart so i have patiently stuck with them for three years now despite the problems. I have been accused by customer service staff of "meter tampering" over the phone and have seen my account being altered up and down like a yoyo. I have hadover two thousand pounds removed from my account where they have messed up meter readings and charged me the wrong tariff. All that co-op has to do is buy energy cheep and sell it at a profit its not rocket science… Read Full Review

“Dreadful”

Written on: 02/01/2016 by Carinaw499 (1 review written)

We switched to co-op when we bought our house 2 years ago. We didn't actually initially intend to, but due to a lot of confusion and break down in communication between our existing supplier and the previous house owner (who used Co-op), we gave up and just went with the Co-op for the gas (for some reason, the electricity go switched fine?!?). Anyway, on the whole, it wasn't too bad... Was happy with the tariff, although Customer Service was even at this time touch and go - difficult to get… Read Full Review

“Worst in the world”

Written on: 18/12/2015 by Delsons (1 review written)

As a long term believer in the Co-op, I switched from Npower to Co-op Energy in April 2012, and matters proceeded satisfactorily until March 2015 when Co-op Energy introduced a completely revised billing "system". In transferring my account from the old to the new billing "system" an error was made that overcharged me to the tune of £24.96. I wrote to Co-op Energy pointing out the mistake, and received no reply. I sent a succession of emails, all of which were ignored. Three times I tried to… Read Full Review

“Still taking money after switch”

Written on: 15/12/2015 by PeeblesPaul (1 review written)

After 9 months of no bill visibility which I reckon cost me £300 I got through on phone to find I owed them rather a lot.... I paid outstanding monies and switched to EDF. Switch confirmed and balance bill received from Coop for 76 pence on basis of final readings. They have taken £135 by direct debit. Phoned and was promised refund within 3 days.... guess what?... phoned again to be told that first agent was wrong and process had to be followed. Have paid £115 to EDF and £135 to coop in… Read Full Review

Update - Contacted by Coop through this page but they also responded to a query on their system - I have pursued this.

They acknowledged that previous requested refund of payment they took post-switch had not been actioned and said that this and a goodwill payment of £30 would be with me by CHAPS within 48 hours.

You guessed it - 48 hours passed - I contacted them again and they came back ignoring the refund and saying that it would take up to 14 days for the good will payment.

Need I say anymore? - AVOID ...unless you enjoy going round in circles

An update - they credited back the monies they took after the final bill - never received the £30 'good will payment' - thought-leave it. Now with EDF and paying EDF - COOP HAVE NOW EMAILED ME TO SAY MY BILL WAS READY - couldn't open it...system error...can't see previous bill - just a note saying I owe them £290.

Phoned - they firstly said the £30 had been credited - and then said it hadn't - said that my gas hadn't switched (they refunded me) ..... they say 'computer says no' and that EDF failed to register the change... unhelpful - WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE CONFIRMED AGAIN - ethical not!

17th January - still no goodwill payment as promised and no response to most recent email. Coop tried to contact me through this site but I felt I should continue as 'normal' ...and not allow them to target bad reviews... so I have carried on as a normal user with access to normal channels.

I am writing off the £30 now and ending the saga having had my wrongly taken payment returned.

FINAL words - any claims about ethical energy and 'member ownership' should be ignored set against the worst customer experience for any service I have used. DO NOT CONSIDER USING.

Next stage - phoned and asked where the money was... agent I spoke with blamed another agent for not auctioning and went off to speak with Supervisor.

She has now set it up again saying refund and goodwill payment will be with me by Tuesday 22nd - seriously, there is a significant call centre training issue lurking in the background here

“A nightmare”

I wish I could give minus 10 stars for this bunch of idiots. I changed from Co-operative energy in feb 2015, thought all was well until they took a direct debit from my account 2 months later. Since then I have tried emailing, ringing, tweeting to get this resolved. They are still charging for energy even though I am paying my currently supplier and are chasing me for 300, when they owe me 150. I've had a similar experience with this dreadful company, as other reviewers have said:i it's surprising they are allowed to operate as an energy supplier.
